Believe it or not...you're no cleverer than anyone else...just some people don't decide they want to join eBay then decide to cheat and break the rules..............

I must also agree with many e bayers on here that the price for postage is excessive and I hate it when I see the sellers trying to make a whopping profit, all of us know that we make some kind of profit anyway but to charge £30-£40 for postage is greedy very greedy indeed. If I was the buyer who said that they would give £90 for the camera I think this is an exceptional offer considering you could go to Asda and get the same Camera for less. I have sold cameras on e bay and everyone know that it is usually between |£10 and £15 for special delivery and no more because cameras are usually light and in some cases it can be cheaper so please don't try and make mugs out of all of us honest e bayers who quite rightly would go and have another look at the auctions and see if we can find another one cheaper elsewhere, even Hong Kong sellers offer really good deals without a high profit and I have no complaints with them at all. So keep your postage costs down and then you will sell your items and hear hear to those who said we will not pay your e bay fees, why should we after all?
  • Wow! This thread still going on! Ha!

BTW kenwood33 I don't think its is "exceptional" considering THIS camera has sold for average for 140 quid many times in the last two weeks on Ebay(the last such completed auction was only TWO days ago)

This guy clearly knew this when he e-mailed me as there were auctions for the same camera AT THE SAME TIME hitting well over 100 quid in bids.Trying to also tell me that I bought it for 85 quid the bloody cheek!

I think the greediness you accuse me about seems to be exceeded by the greed for rock bottom prices by certain Ebayers!! :rotfl:

BTW - the buyer still pays the Ebay fees anyway. I think such arguments are just circular as you deduct the fees from the total cost anyway. Perhaps you tend forget that the actual amount you make on your item is actually
minus Ebay fees,Paypal fees,Travelling costs(if any to post office),Packaging and Postage. So the last argument actually means a fat zero!

So the BUYER still pays the Ebay fees irrespective of postage unless of course you item sells for less than the total fees:(! Or if you have rich aunt who likes paying your fees for you ....!:rotfl:

Have fun you all and a nice weekend!
  • I have had people offer to buy things for a set price before and agreed to list it as a buy it now for 0.01p and then this item was 124.99 postage as we had agreed £125 for the item this way ebay dont take a cut for the postage and you save money on the fees As long as you are upfront about it i see no problem in this kinda scenario

I do have to agree i hate seeing inflated postage prices and it does put me off bidding,i set reasonble prices for mine as people dont like to feel ripped off - I once had neutral feedback from someone for charging £4 (which was a bit of a guess as i had never posted one before) when i managed to get it posted for £2.20

I can't understand why you are not just listing it at 99p and letting it reach the market value if they are going well over £100. That way you would save fees following ebay rules..

Could there be a reason you are finding it hard to make money on Ebay?

The Big Yin, i would be careful about selling things for 1p and adding the postage like that. If it goes missing in the post Royal Mail will see it as only being worth 1p and will only cover you for this amount. (this is totally ignoring that you are avoiding paying ebay fees)

Soolin..............what is the point of this thread going on?? It's now all about those who think it's okay to break eBay rules and those who prefer to be honest and abide by them.

Probably best ( imho ) to end this now meaningless thread..........

I keep thinking it will come to a natural conclusion as I dislike closing threads mid argument in case it looks like favouritism for either side.

However, as discussion type threads are not supposed to be on the main boards I will close this now and suggest that if anyone wishes to continue a pure discussion then they take it to the MSE arms.
