I for one was not - purely saying that it is of no benefit to me - no more no less
Guess you were referring to me Judderman62. My comment was specifically aimed at a few of the comments posted here, who ARE knocking the scheme. Not those posters who have said that it doesn't benefit them, but will benefit others.

LOL none taken good sir, I think there might have been a couple of other posts that were hinting in the same direction.
Just wanted to clarify that not all of us who appear to be being negative are meaning to be negative about the whole idea - just staing it doesn't currently offer something for us (of course this could change over time) - still nice to be informed of it's existence all the sameHate and I do mean Hate my apple Mac Computer - wish I'd never bought the thing

Please stop using the word "of" when you actually mean "have" - it's damned annoying :mad:0 -

Additionally, rumour has it that the supermarkets pay more attention to calibration of the pumps, making it less likely you will get more fuel than you paid for. (This also leads to people thinking that supermarket fuel gives ythem a worse MPG than other varieties.)
Shouldn't your Tesco's you pass though be the cheapest as they are supposed to price match and say they check the local pumps to make sure they are at least equal cheapest
I did wonder a while ago when i filled up at my local Asda that it seemed to take a bit longer for the fuel to start going through the pump(or that's how it seemed;)) than it did for the price thingy to start going round:rolleyes:Darren0 -
oopspardon wrote:I can't believe that people who are paying 91p per litre are moaning because they won't benefit from this card! It's going to be an absolute lifesaver for me - I estimate a saving of 8-9p so will make up the price of the card in no time at all. I live on one of the Scottish islands and having been paying over a pound per litre for more than a year, at the moment it's 106p (and that's at the 'cheap' place).
It's surprising that any garages here are participating in the scheme - I know that Esso previously withdrew its own payment card from here some years ago - they were saving us too much money so decided to put a stop to it.
Having said all this - and having checked on the Marmalade site that there is a participating garage here - I'm still not convinced it's true. Especially as I've just phoned them up to confirm they accept the card and was told to ring back on Monday when the boss is in.
I was one of the people on page one that said i got mine last week at Asda for 91p but certainly wasn't knocking the card just stating it was cheaper anyway:)Darren0 -

Tesco's only price match in each store's local area. In the town where I live they are charging 97.9p a litre for standard unleaded. There is no local competition.
Five miles away they are charging 93.9p a litre as there is local competition including a Sainsburys. About 6 miles in the other direction they are charging 91.9p a litre. This is because there is an ASDA and they always are cheap, so Tesco has to match it.
All three Tesco stores must get their fuel from the same refinery as they are close together.
I assume Tesco make a profit on their sales. If they are making a profit at 91.9p why can't they sell at this price at all their stores. They are making a good profit at 97.9p!!

Yeah i think it's 3 miles or 1 mile within the M25 but i just thought as he says he passes all them garages on his way to work they might be quite close to eachother:)Darren0

Diesel still 99.9 at my local Tesco - eagerly awaiting my Marmalade quotation! Can I help?0

Simple for me - I'll win!
Well today's price for diesel for me is 96.9 @ Sainsbury in Dunstable right beside where I work.
But I live in Leighton Buzzard and pass a Total station every time I go to work - they currently charge 98.9.
The marmalade price for diesel this week is 93.9. So at the very least I'll be saving 3p/litre. The differential between Total and Sainsbury has been the same for the 2 years I've lived here.
It's going to be 333 litres for me to breakeven (covering the card cost) - that's about 7 to 8 tanks full - for me that works out about 3 months for me to start saving.
Then I continue saving afterwards!
cheers

PS - plus the guys in Total are a lot cuter than in Sainsbury, so added incentive!!!I'm tired of the censorship0 -

Leaving one's car at home and lift-sharing once a week would dwarf any savings one could possibly make by any of these schemes, and would also help us all, in cutting greenhouse emissions and preserving fossil fuel supplies. These schemes can have a damaging effect on the environment by encouraging people to drive further to fill up (which is also likely to be counterproductive for them if they work out the real cost per mile of running a car).Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0 -
is it just me or have they made it more difficult to actually find out about the prices of fuel on their website?
here are the direct links anyway:
Texaco FastFuel Card - www.marmaladecarclub.co.uk/afp/fcard.afp?fuelco=texaco
Marmalade Diesel & Petrol scheme - www.marmaladecarclub.co.uk/afp/fcard.afp?fuelco=total
Marmalade Diesel Scheme - www.marmaladecarclub.co.uk/afp/fcard.afp?fuelco=bp
It also seems that it's pretty much useless for anyone in the central belt of Scotland (since the Marmalade Diesel & Petrol scheme works out at a couple pence more than the Texaco FastFuel Card price and it seems only works south of the border)0
