A quick question about Dorothy Perkins - is student discount allowed on sale/promotional stock? I was once told no by a sales assistant, but when you shop online it allows discount off sale stock
Thanks

Burtons do, and it is that same company. However evans does not (these are both on sale items) and it is also the same company. So I think it is different shops have different policies. No help at all but general info.

Hi, Im a newbie to the site and thought you might all enjoy some money offs i found out (as SU president of a really small uni in East Wilts)
https://www.journeyedeurope.com - really cheap software for students you need 2 forms of id when i used the site so i used my uni registration docs and NUS card. (i got over 50% off on some software i regularly used at college!)
If anyone wants to join a gym in the South Oxford/Thame area centres run by Soll Leisure offer membership to students off peak for £20 instead of £35 a month (this is as Jan 06 but may be subject to change), but you have to ask otherwise you get signed up to the expensive one (NUS card or similar needed as proof!)
I also found out most Local Councils offer savers cards to people on benefits for using services (like swimming pools and other such council run places) but Students can sometimes also apply.
Also if your after a new Apple computer and have NUS online activated my boyfriend went through the NUS website and got a laptop with just over £200 off the list price.
Hope some of that helps someone!!
Happy hunting for the discounts
P.S. I got a letter from NUS today saying next acc year 06/07 they are having 2 NUS cards. 1 you pay for (£10) which gives you even more discounts in some places but you can opt to have a free one, but they dont say that you will be able to get any discounts with it. £4 / £10 goes to your SU so they will be able to offer you more (hopefully cheaper) stuff themselves (if they are lovely like we are!!)0 -
Open University student cards don't get you discount at any place that states they do NUS discount (like Showcase Cinema) but they do get you discount if it just says student discount available - most of the time!
Essensuals hair salon gives 15% student discount
Can anyone explain why Blackwells bookshops (the one only found on university campuses - at least in Nottingham anyway) tends to be the most expensive bookshop around?0 -
thry can afford to charge tons as they have most stock and are probably the only place you can get the book you need!
i lived surrounded by 2nd book shops in bloomsbury and everyone had a student discount. 10% off a 2nd hand book isnt much compared to nothing on a full price book.:A Boots Tart :A0 -
