What is everyone making for their Christmas dinner? I've spent the evening looking through recipes on the internet and I still haven't decided. I'm definitely going to use Jamie's Oliver turkey recipe but have no idea what to have for the other courses.

I got a Christmas magazine from the shop a few days ago which had some good recipes in it for vegetarians if you're cooking for any veggies this year. Not sure what it was called but I think it was purple and had the word Christmas on it in big letters xD0

I've got the GoodFood magazine and all the recipes look so yummy. No vegetarians in the family but I'll keep an eye out for that magazine, cheers.:j little fire cracker born 5th November 2012 :j0

On Christmas Eve - Ham, egg and chips and then on Christmas Day our usual Christmas Dinner which is a Turkey Crown and Beef Joint along with all the veg. It's Sunday Dinner really with the few special extras we like - for example sausage stuffing and bread sauce. We dont bother with starters cos we never have enough room for a 3 course meal. Even Xmas pudding is usually left until the evening or on Boxing Day!!
We love Christmas but faffing around and putting sprouts with chestnuts a la some chef really does not float my boat. I'd rather spend the time seeing family than getting in a faff because some recipe wont work right! If it ain't broke - dont fix it!!

Yeah, I've got that one too
My main problem is that we may not have an oven in time for Christmas so I really have no idea what to make xD.
And I'm not a vegetarian either but I do like vegetarian food, even if it's just the starters you use they may be useful.0 -
Just remembered where I put the magazine!! Lol.
It's called "The Christmas Magazine" (original, right? XD)
Just as an idea of what's in here (as i really dont have time to type out every single recipe lol):
Starters:
roasted aubergine, tomato and mozzarella stacks with pesto dressing
smoked salmon and avocado terrine
avocado ceviche
port salut tomato cups
Christmas lunch:
best-ever roast turkey
pan-fried duck breast with berry sauce and roasted vegetables
lamb with blackberries and honey
continental lamb roast
Vegetarian:
roasted vegetables and bellaverde with halloumi
Side dishes:
ale-braised carrots with shallots
kale with ginger, garlic and chilli
honey and thyme roasted carrots
sautered potatoes with mustard seeds
perfect roast potatoes
Desserts:
poached pears in red wine with goats yoghurt sorbet
lemon and yoghurt tart
gooseberry and elderflower fool
blackcurrant sorbet
There are a few others in there as well. And there was another one with LOADS of recipes in it. I think it may have been the Ideal Homes one or something similar to that. 120 pages of recipesI'll see if i can find it.

The salmon and avocado terrine sounds good. i also toyed with the idea of making home made pate. Has anyone else tried making it? Is it easy enough?:j little fire cracker born 5th November 2012 :j0

oh god - Mine sounds really boring in comparison! :rotfl:
This is the first time Ive ever made xmas dinner.... My mums always done it! But she will be in Oz, so Im staying at home with my little one and my aunt and uncle and 16 year old cousin are coming over.
I bought Sainsbugs Taste the Difference Jumbo King Prawns and am going to do a prawn/avacado type cocktail to start.
Then....turkey! With Roasties, brussels, sausage stuffing, chipolatas and bacon, etc
And Christmas pudding and my uncle is making and bringing a christmas cake and mince pies.
I also have crackers and cheese and all that jazz.....
I thought I was doing well, but I am intrigued by some of these recipes....especially halloumi....Sometimes lurking, sometimes posting, but always flying

Bacon-wrapped sausages
Chestnut, sage and apple stuffing balls
Roast potatoes, roasted in goose fat
Yorkshire pudding
Brussels sprouts with chestnut bacon butter
Baby carrots glazed with honey and balsamic vinegar
Parsnip and celeriac bake
Red onions stuffed with bacon, pine-nuts, lemon and parsley
Bread sauce
Cranberry and red onion relish
Gravy
Desserts
Chocolate and cointreau mousse pots
White chocolate cheesecake with fresh raspberries
Steamed marmalade pudding with fresh custard
Mince pies
