Do you know how many dogs she has lir? £85 per week does sound rather a lot. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

i think its four? Michael, grace kelly, mini puppy and another one I think. who knows though, it may be more.:)
We have two, recently down from three. Giant/large breeds,so I'm guessing about the same food needs (hers are smaller, but almost certainly more active, e.g.even if walked the same distance a collie is more likely to buzz about, where as my giant will, after a big run, plod by my side). My grey though, is extremely active (wears out all the gun dogs) and needs lots of calories to keep weight on.0 -

£85 still sounds a lot to me. My parents had two working dogs until recently when the older one died. One was a collie cross, the other larger dog was a lurcher cross. They would both have been classed as medium-sized. My parent's food bill is significantly lower (about £15 per week for two dogs), but they make a lot of their dog food fresh from cheap fish and meat ingredients such as liver. Mum also makes her own kibble. I wonder if there is space to be more MSE there for Liz. Having said that, she could switch her TV to freeview, so I'm not convinced such a suggestion would be considered. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Well...I have been giving the LJ life a bit of thought today and, whilst her tales are entertaining (in a modern bizarre way) I figured we should post some solutions.
Obvious 1st one is she can't afford to run a rescue centre for farm animals on a writers income.I read the other day that people die through lack of sleep. At least then I’d be able to rest. I haven’t had a day off since 23 December, Christmas Eve’s Eve. I just cannot keep up with the bills. Last month, I paid my missed mortgage payment by card over the phone, which only meant I missed the April payment, so I am back where I started.
At least she cleared a mortgage payment and is cutting back.....the para about the sample of face cream rings bells with me when I first went DFW.....I think I used some very expensive sachets on my legs ....and she borrows Nicolas Ka to drive to London as cheaper on fuel....so she's getting the hang of it.
So solution?
I am not zenned up on charities but I don't see why she can't section off her 'animal rescue' writing as a fund raiser for rescuing animals? It would then be tax free. I don't know how it would work with her mortage but I am sure a good accountant could work it out.
The people who wish to donate could do so as it would be a charity.
She could then have 2 open days a year (I know that's a PITA with insurance and H+S but not difficult to organise) and charge £10 entrance to meet Lizzie and Micheal and see the lambs in the orchard
Would make a fun MSE day out
Her fashion writing (which must be on borrowed time surely...sorry Liz) could then be her basic salary...and if she needs to add £££3 to the rescue centre she could do it by charitable donation...isn't there a tax advantage to this?
It would have a great impact on her writing as instead of writing about fancying a local married bloke or being a bit rude about the locals to fill column inches, she could really concentrate on the whole animal rescue theme, with a bit of angst inbetween.....I don't think her readership would go down....it could go up as she could get invited onto Blue Peter or something.0 -

Downside is, this would be doing a good thing for someone other than herself. Unfortunately, as we have seen in her column, this is something she clearly isn't interested in...It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

Maybe she is seeing the light now? I want to see good in everyone :rotfl::rotfl:0 -

I wish I could fc123.
I'm not sure whether as time goes on I become more cynical, or whether it is my line of work...I dunno, but after so long I become less sure that the good in a person is going to come to the forefront, or what good intentions they display usually have another agenda.
Not ideal,& not how I view everyone. Certainly not how I treat people when I first meet them - I like to give folks every opportunity.
In Liz's case, seems to me she epitomises the me me me style of greed, avarice & snobbery which is ultimately a very side of humanity. It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
i love reading her column....i was disappointed when she announced she was skint...i used to admire her lifestyle....then i foundout she was skint...not so exciting then iykwimonwards and upwards0
