Actually, pretty sure I could do it. And live with the hate. Or get a pseudonym. If the mail want a replacement I'll do it for 10% less (my debts are more manageable...but I can hype them up...)

Ah, yes lost, you're a good writer, I've read some of your stuff on the nice as pie thread and elsewhere and, yes, you're fluent, wide ranging, got a good turn of phrase, an eye for detail, lots of insight and understanding and frame of reference and all that good stuff.

Ah, but can you be irritating and stupid? And rude and insulting? And to the right degree, as I suggest, not too provocative and inflammatory otherwise it'll just turn people off and make them scream with anger. So can you tune your laser beam so it's just tight enough to drill a hole in people's heads but not so much that all the brain tissue explodes? Well, with, practise, probably.

So do you want to? Have you got the time? Are you motivated? I'm not, I'm lazy. I only do my writing for myself and publishing some of it here on MSE is a bonus. A lot of stuff I write I don't bother posting for several reasons. First of all I can't be @rsed, secondly I decide it's too irritating and provocative, third some of it's political stuff and I don't really want to get to the top of the various government lists that we're all on, fourth some of it's just not good enough, fifth some of it's filth and not fit for a public airing, sixth some of it's just so negative and ranting that I wouldn't to put my name to that or annoy people with it etc etc.

I have wondered whether if I polished up my writing and focussed it and adopted a winning commercial formula for it whether it would be saleable to the rags. But as there's now 20 million bloggers to compete with I'd say that why bother even trying. And would I really want to write to formula to deadlines and have to churn out loads of stuff to sell. I write for myself and the joy of gobbing off, I don't think it would be much fun getting up every day and knowing that you've got do it as work and get another 1,000 words done by lunchtime otherwise you'll miss the deadline. Hmm, maybe.

I've now written three books but I haven't got any motivation to try to publish them, they're for me, not for the world. JD Salinger found that the fame and success of his Catcher in the Rye became a right nuisance and so he wrote another 15 books that he never published and he wrote that "there was a peace in not publishing" and I think I know what he meant.

But, on the other hand, having written the stuff it's also a shame if I don't at least try to do something with it. Who knows, it could be a laugh to put it out and if I pushed it and worked at marketing it then it might sell a bit and there's that tiny miniscule chance that it might even sell a lot and hit a nerve with the public. Yeah, yeah, yeah, no, no, no. Can't be bothered. It'd be so much grief and effort. And probably just a total waste and an utter crashing bore. Maybe in another lifetime or another universe...

    "the rudeness was staggering"

Quite right, thankfully you've left and the locals can get on with a normal life again.

Is she really a real person? This piece is so beyond the pale, it's incredible.
