    New Diary Entry
I ran over to where Michael was lying prone on the grass. I touched his head; my hand came away covered in blood. I don’t think Lizzie even knew she had trampled him. He was still breathing, and he slowly opened one eye. He had a cut lip, and a massive lump on his head. I tried to pick him up, but I couldn’t even lift him an inch above the now sodden grass. Sodding pilates! I want my money back! I phoned Nic, who was on the yard with Poor Dream. ‘Nic!’ I screamed. ‘What is it? Is it one of the horses?’ ‘No, it’s Michael. He’s been trampled by Lizzie!’
Nic is very good in a crisis. She immediately snapped her phone shut, jumped in her 4x4 and hurtled down the lane. After what seemed like an hour but was probably more like five minutes, she was bumping across the field. I got in, and she placed Michael on my lap. I phoned ahead to the vet and, thank God, he was standing outside his clinic when we got there. He examined Michael, and said there was no obvious damage. He could have a brain haemorrhage, but we won’t know for about 24 hours. He is to be kept quiet, and monitored closely in case he vomits, or becomes drowsy. He was quite enjoying the attention, to be honest, and put in the odd subtle, somnolent wag.

I’m surprised one of the dogs hasn’t been trampled before. The puppies are always circling the horses, hanging on to their tails, herding them. I am going to have to try to keep them all separate, but God only knows how.

The next day, I left Michael languishing on the sofa in the sitting room while I took the puppies and Jess into the woods that are now carpeted with late bluebells. I could hear Mini Puppy barking in the distance, and followed the noise. I found her guarding a sheep with twin lambs; they must have got into my fields somehow. There are lambs in all the neighbouring fields at the moment; at night their cries sound like babies. I can’t bear the thought that they will all soon be taken for slaughter; they have tiny, curly smiles, and are so happy to be alive. The ewe was on the edge of a precipice, her lambs huddled under her belly, her udder swollen with milk. The lambs have really sweet black faces and black knees.

I must admit to some mystification as to the interest she generates. Wonder, too, whether she knows there is a long-standing forum thread devoted entirely to her.

The digital spy thread is quite entertaining.

I went to Surrey today and long train journey ...gave in and bought A Mail....and in review was a lady who has written The Chicken Diaries about rearing chickens....I just did a search and can't find it. Where's the board google sniffer dogs?
Not a patch on LIR's Chickn Diaries but I get Ninkies point about writing style and how to catch your reader.....quite a nack it seems.

This is her blog .......could have been a blog that became a book...I will admit to coming over wannabe Vegan when she described trying to wring her first neck, failing and having to grab an axe instead.

ETA ..I think this is the wrong chicken diary...in fact there ae loads including a virtual life one (?!)

I've sometimes been tempted to do a blog of the fun and games of having autistic kids...but then I think that maybe it could be a tad boring.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

And if this doesn't sound like an accident waiting to happen I don't know what does...

Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

I could only tye the ne line earlier, because of that line in her piece. It helps no one and risks making her dogs and horses a danger to their own lives, the horses' lives, other livestock, herself and any other rider who pass her gate.
