  • Hi guys, just a quickie, to let you know I'm still on track!
Had a small lapse type thing in the sense that I have consumed some fast food but I was horrendously hungover.
Paid off some more A&L, and my ALG should come through any week soon, I'm hoping and praying next week, but it'll probably be the week after.
Also just waiting on that grant to come through...
Trying to be more organised in general, I've done bits and bobs of homework, and I think I'll take some with me tonight.
Going to go into college early Monday, to buy my book, £10, but a necessary £10 so it can't be helped!

    Have sent off UCAS.

Am getting £100 bonus this paycheque, but it will all go on xmas presents :'(.
Also should be getting my dooyoo cheque sometime soon, so will cash that ASAP.

I'm off to use every car insurance website I know, my cheapest quote so far is £480 and I have £500, so any saving I can make will go on xmas presents.

I hate to say it, but December just wont be a very good DFW month for me, next year I will plan ahead, and put £10 of my EMA aside each week, but unfortunately, my main priorities this month are: having a good xmas, getting everyone something nice, and not overspending.
I think thats reasonable enough for Christmas.

    See you soon!

  • Wowww, I just got my second star!
I'm now a money saving stalwart!
I know this sounds sad, but I've been checking it for ages, waiting for it to happen!

Anyways, today I'm off to the bank to pay some money in so I can buy some car insurance, once I've purchased car insurance I should have £30 left over, £20 into A&L overdraft, or 'the black hole' as I like to call it :rotfl:

My boyfriend passed his theory test today, which pleases me, he can give me lifts soon!

    Just checking in!
    See you soon!

  • So, just e-mailed dooyoo, because I've still not received my miles yet!
So I shall see what they say.
Still waiting on some form of payment from college, or ALG.
I wish they'd sorted us with this in September.
Pay day tomorrow, so I'll check my payslip at work and work out a budget as per.
I should potentially be getting about £500, but I don't want to count my chickens, so I'll say £450.

    My estimated budget is:

    Phone bill- £65
    Loan - £94
    Diesel- £100
    Next- £12

Sigh, these leaves me with £179.

Plus £30 left over from this month, so £200.

This would be fantastic, except I'm going out Saturday (on the cheap mind), so I'll budget £15 for that.

Staff meal on Sunday, which is free, got to pay for drinks though, so to be safe £20 for that

Then *gulp* I'm going to rock city xmas party, which is probably going to work out about £20-30 and thats if my best mates fella will pick us up...
    If he wont I'm screwed!

So that gives me £144 to spend on Christmas presents :(
No where near enough, for the amount of people I have to buy for.

    Oh. holy. Jesus.

I knew this all along, but had no means with which to save, I'm starting in January this year, saving money for Christmas, £5 a week minimum.

Anyways, I may have to resort to none-MSE ways to get by this Xmas.
But the new year spells hope for me.

  • Okay so got my pay slip and I'm getting a grand total of £510 :j
But my car insurance wasn't as cheap as I expected so I only have £15 left over from my insurance.
    So I should have £525.
    My budget is:

    £100 Diesel
    £10 WW membership
    £4 RAC membership
    £65 Phone bill
    £94 Loan
    £12 Next
£100 Nights out/socialising etc (would not normally dream of this much, but it's a realistic amount with xmas/new years etc)

This leaves me with £140 for Christmas presents which I feel is okay.
I have referred to none MSE ways...I hate to say.
However, come January the 7th, this will be fine, because I'll have a large pay pack and to be honest, I can't wait for the new year so I can blast those debts!

I'm so ready, not long now, only about 3 weeks until I can really get this DFW journey started, these past two months have been a nice warm up!

Below is my revised list, who I've sorted and who is left.

  • I really, really can't wait until January (January the 7th to be specific).
A brand new start at getting rid of this debt!
And also because I'll have money, and no stupid Christmas presents to buy!
It's so depressing that the amount I'm spending on presents this month, could all be going on debt.

From 7/01/2010 I'm stating the PAD challenge, to my A&L and my Next account (My next will have increased greatly thanks to Christmas, not ideal, but necessary).

    I just need some money!

    Heya glad youre doing ok!!
I've been struggling ith xmas presents too with mine and the boys family there are so many people and I always feel bad so this year we are really trying!! I got a lot of presents by saving my amazon vouchers for ages from bingoport and that kinda thing, and then I've been hanging around the grabbit board a little and got loads of good stuff like loads of alcohol gifts from m&s for £27 so that should sort a lot of people! just need to get a few more bits.
Have u seen the bingobritain offer? Its a £5 risk but I've made £27.50 profit so far and it al hit my bank yesterday so thats pretty good :) Also I got £500 from the uni yesterday for winning a prize so yey!! Its the biggest cheque I've ever got that wasnt from my mum or from the student loans or something!! :D lol sorry, I've spent it all on a holiday though but at least I get to treat myself!!
What is your phone package btw? it seems pretty high? or did you just go over a lot this month? Just mine's £20 and I think I get quite a lot for that so maybe you could negotiate it down a little?
  • Hi Tink, My package is an iphone package, and it's usually £29 a month thanks to discount, (I work for a partner company to o2) but I went over by a hell of a lot this month :(.

My cheque from dooyoo came today :T
And my boyfriend has agreed to give me £50 towards Christmas presents for mine and his family.
So thats a little bit of weight off my shoulders.
Thats £100 I can spend on presents, without denting my actual money :j.
Also got a tenner off my Dad yesterday for diesel money, because I drove to go and see him and his family (its an hour drive there, and an hour back) I didn't ask for it, but he said I'd need it, and he's right.

Paid everything off/sectioned money accordingly, just need to pay my stepdad £30, and my Mum £40.

This should leave me with £95 to myself, excluding nights out :j which means I could put it in my A&L account! or at least half!

I'll see what happens when I've purchased all presents, and paid my parents etc.

  • Okay, so just fiddled about with my online banking, I've got £48.99 in my incentive saver account, and it is my full intention for that to stay there until next pay day.
I have £75 left for diesel this month, with over quater of a tank left :j.
I have £100 left for 'going out' etc.
My £94 loan money is set aside.
As is the £70 I owe my mother and stepfather.
This leaves £50 in my current account, plus I'll have £100 combined from dooyoo and the boyfriend, so I'm hoping to spend no more than £100 when I do my final Christmas shopping bits on Tuesday, I'd really like it all done and dusted by then, but I probably wont.
Ooh I also need to spend £23 on my boys final present, I guess this can be used with my £50 in my current account.
That £48.99 is staying in my savings until the 7th of January though.
    Come hell or high water.

  • So Alliance and Leicester strike again.
Another £51 charge, bringing me to £273 over drawn when my limit is £250.
    So that'll be another charge.
Paid some money in now, put my dooyoo cheque in, and transferred an extra £35, just means I'll make no savings this month.
    Siiigh.

Me and Ki have decided not to buy eachother presents until our ALG goes in, this way we're both going to go to a shopping centre, make a day of it and choose our own gift.
