Thanks everyone! I really am so happy!! It is so good to be home, thinking about the whole thing now the worst part of it all for me was having to stay in hospital so long afterwards. I know now that all my reasons for wanting a HB in the first place actuallt are athe things that are important to me, ie hubby not having to leave, being able to get up and about and do stuff, be in my own bed etc.

PLus I had to have a catheter in asIhad a spinal block and hosp policy is to leave it in for 24 hours, well as I had it in around 1am that meant 24 hours then wait til morning and I really hated that. Plus (TMI alert!!) cos i had it in, it pulled my pants and mat pad to one side a bit so after I'd been sat a while then stood up, blood would leak out that side and down the catherter tube and drip on the floor. Gross.

So anyway while it's all fresh in my mind, I have a few tips!!

Birth pool was amazing, but if doing it at home, don't put any cold in until you are reasdy to get in. We'd got temp right but didn't get straight in so had to heated a little when I got in.

Hospoital bag - don't stress about it! Hubby had to bring me a few extra bits in but that really wasn't a problem as he was coming back anyway. And I wouldn't bother with a towel. The MWs etc see plenty of blood and if you're going to get blood all over a towel, I'd rather it wasn't my own! The baby wash is a great idea for washing your bits.

Maternity pads - make sure you have enough so that if your waters go first you have maybe a pack to use at home before you even get to hospital as they can really gush, a lot!!!

If you poo while you in labour you REALLY REALLY don't care! So don't worry about it!

Make the most now of being able to sneeze, cough, laugh and blow your nose cos after the birth these will hurt, a lot!

    Hope that helps anyway!!!

  • Congrat SJ! What a lovely name you have chosen, I hope little man is doing well.

Best of luck to you Nikkit, hopefully you will be having your mummy cuddles real soon too.

Watched One Born Every Minute and have to agree that guy was a bit of a p**tt, I would be so angry with my OH if he was like that. Plus we both got so stressed with the woman when she wouldn't push at the end, I was practically screaming at the telly. Am looking forward to seeing the rest although it does make me feel funny inside to know I'm gonna have to go through these things to get this bean out. I think it's just having to be in hospital that bothers me most right now.

Hope everyone is having a good day. :)

Great news and fab name SJ- am just a tinsy tiny bit jealous that you have Alfie already! Won't be long until it is my turn though :D

Thats good about your induction Nikki- lets just hope baby arrives before then- lots of vibes for you (but I want them back when you are done with them).

I should be sewing nappies but I am too lazy :(
