Guinea
so far from my reading a gro bag is recommended from over 7lbs..... before that a cellular blanket (?) someone can clarify that......
and then its cot duvets i think....Wealth is not measured by currency0 -
Sarah - if L is in a sleepsuit, that will be all hes got on in my mind.... less its cold then a blanket as well.....
If he's in a vest suit, then maybe some trousers, and a cardi top if theres a chill......
It took me long enough to work out what each thing are called, and even now i think ive made up the names.......Wealth is not measured by currency0 -
Amber always wears a vest no matter what she's wearing over the top of it, be it sleepsuit, clothes. She lives in sleepsuits but am starting to put her in outfits, tbh outfits are too much faff while baby is still small.
When i take her out, i just put on a coat, hat, blankets, maybe mitts (but i'm usually going in car so not too worried). I did put her in a snowsuit for warmth (but it was the coldest winter in ages lol) and i didn't get on with them, she couldn't move her arms lol.
In the moses basket... I put a flat sheet on, then fitted (no idea why, just seems more snuggly on the hard wipe clean mattress). Then on top of her i just use how ever many blankets is needed, most of them are fleece ones. I usually loose swaddle her in one, then put another one or two over the top.
I have a few cellular but don't use them specifically. Though they were good when i had DS end of April cos they are cooler than fleece, they let the air circulate so he wasn't getting sweaty.
Also, don't worry about dressing/bathing/nappy - the midwives will show you how to do it all, you're not going to look silly if you're worried, and once you've done it once or twice it'll be like you've been doing it forever. `0 -
I was wondering about vests and sleepsuits as most labour bag lists I've seen have included both, but not "normal" clothes IYSWIM, so I was thinking, if you don't use a vest with a sleepsuit, why would you need them in hospital?
I guess at the end of the day, as with so much, so long as baby is happy it doesn't really matter how you've got them there!
ETA I am now officially full term, 37 weeks!!!!!!!! :T0 -
For those worring about the dog's mixing with babies ,I too worried myself when preg with DS but my then narky yorkie just loved DS when he arrived and use to sleep under cot till DS nodded off ,would come mithering me if DS was unsettled the only thing that concered me was once he "gave" DS some biscuits out of his bowl once when DS was about 6 months old ,he was only being kind but it could have been dangerous .
unfortunatly my dog died yesterday morning ,he was old and getting more poorly each week but we are all still gutted
will add link to other thread posted yesterday ,It is a horrible thought but it may be of use in the future esp anybody with older animals like myself

While I'm on maternity leave, I was going to take her out of nursery entirely, but thanks to that funding, I'm going to take her still for two mornings a week. This way I'll only have to pay for her lunch and she'll still get to play with the other children. The grant money has really helped make that possible.
Ah thats really goodI am hoping MIL will watch him for 2 days, maybe not forever lol but to help us out at the start?
EEK Twinklesits scary isnt it when you realise how close you are!
SJ - yeah I would hate the not knowing as well, part of our debt is cos of the house, we got a loan to pay for the deposit, we had 5% all saved up I went on holiday to Miami in the Jan and buy the time I came back they had got rid of 95% mortgages, so we got a loan to get the rest of the deposit needed for the house, and I am pleased we did cos we got a 90% mortgage then not long after that you couldnt get them anymore! I know its a struggle now, but I would rather its a struggle now and then in 6 years (when I still think I will be young, I will be 34) all the debt will be gone and we can just work at getting mortgage down
As for dressing the baby I am the same lol I have NO clue lol
Awww SJ I hope you didnt bleed too much, I thankfully trimmed with veet a couple weeks ago (well lopped it all off) so I am hoping I wont need mega work done just before lol
Guinea - I dont know if this is right but I plan on having fitted moses basket sheets on the mattress, then babybean and for during the day when he is just napping he will have a sleepsuit on and a flanelette sheet and a blanket on top of him
But at night in his moses basket he will also wear a sleeping bag
For his cot I will have fitted sheets to mattress again, babybean in a sleeping bag and then sheets and blankets on him depending on temp
SJ - I dont think he needs a vest and a sleepsuit, to me its sleepsuit only, or a vest and some joggers or something, or a vest and a tshirt and some pants? again I have no clue though lol
Hmms now Beenie has said that, I am all confused lol I thought I knew what to do-ish lol dammmit lol

SJ - yeay for being full term
Jopsey - so sorry to hear about your dog, I dread the day H goes, hope at 7 he has a while yet. But my deepest sympathies to you xx Had a quick squiz at your other thread and think that honesty is the best policy with children, but you know your child best.
Kindof - good that you got your foot in the mortgage door before it slammed shut, Ill be 39ish when we finnish our IVA so then if we have to save a deposit will be a while before we get on the property ladder that way.
Beenie - had always assumed a vest was first thing to go on so good to hear thats what you do to, plan on mainly using sleep suits too as agree that outfits seem a faff, tho we do have a few as we were given them and would like to get some wear out of themso will see how we go.
EEk at all the tidying disasters going on! tbh I dont care and the MW/doc will have to take me as they find me. Have never tidied before any of my other appointments or emergency visits and tbh its been the last thing on my mind!
Right gotta get ready for work, already woke up late so really shouldn't be here! Have a good day all xxBaby :female: Tahlie Lois born 15/3/10 7lb 12 oz :heartpulsWorking on baby no2

To the north east ladies - fancy a meet? There's a few of us on the other thread. Although kindof i know you're quite far on now! Not sure when though.0

SJ - rule of thumb is whatever you have on, plus a layer. So if you have a t-shirt on, baby will need vest aswell, top and jumper, baby needs both plus a vest. I always put dd in vest with sleepsuit, but then she's 5 now and I still make her wear a vest with her pjs in this weather lol0

morning all ,
with all the clothes talk , i have always dressed my other 3 while young in vests then clothes / sleepsuits etc , but they always hada vest on under any other clothes, i wouldnt worry to much as you will actually know by instinct what bubs needs to wear by touching them and seeing how cold/hot they are( if i remember rightly you feel the back of their neck for how warm / cold they are ,)with whatever you have decided to put on them , IYSWIM ,
not up to much , a boring day yet again ,Dont forget that little Thanks button , only takes a sec0
