admittedly it was a story about a woman who had been gang raped when 3 months pregnant, contracted HIV, and despite using contraception has passed it to her now husband.... and they were just so sweet together.....

got a question about gro bags/sleeping bags. I know you're meant to use them instead of duvets for baby, and ive got one that says 3-6 months, am i gonna need to buy another one for newborn? Or are you recommended to use something else for a newborn? I cant find the answer in my baby book LOL

aw that does sound horrible :(

I always used layers of blankets with dd, that way you can remove/add as needed. I put a sheet at the bottom, then mostly them holey blankets, can't think what they're called lol

    yep they're the one's lol

I think they trap the air in between the holes, which gives extra warmth without the weight... will check when I get home but I'm sure it's in one of my many childcare books :)

Reading the birth stories I'm starting to wonder if they shouldn't start with the bad stuff in birthing classes. Start with ceasarians, then work their way through all the pain relief and finally mention that some women have it easy. It is such a shock when things go wrong, surely it would be better to be prepared - because most of it I think is psychological. So if you go in there prepared for the worst, anything else is a bonus. That way there are no surprises.

I am still peeved off that they make breastfeeding sound easy, when most women have problems, which you only find out about when it's happening. Thank goodness for this site and the support within, without it I would have gone mad years ago!

  • Afternoon everyone. Have not been on for a week so have spent most of today catching up!! I have made a few notes but will send out my apologies now if i miss anyone out.

Belated Happy 21st for EA :T

JHA and Gemma..your little ones are both gorgeous...many congratulations to you both

Mermaid...i put on 7lb inbetween my midwife appointments at 8 and 16wks

Nikkit....think your bump pic is just fab. My bump is getting there but i still feel like i just look fat!

PP...thanks for the link to get the freebies. I have registered so am looking forward to them dropping through my door soon

Guinea...i am planning on using real nappies but feel a bit overwhelmed by all the choice!! Our council has got a "nappucino" meeting next month so i think i will pop down for a chat and hopefully things will be a bit clearer after that.

Hello to Kaz, DP, sonee2405, babygirlduemay3, little angel

Meltdown...many congratulations on the early arrival on your little bundle

Mermaid...great news on team pink...think you are a few days behind me. I am not sure if we are finding out or if we are going to keep the surprise until bump is here..only got until thursday to decide.

CAFC...congratualtions on being team blue. The list of stuff you have already has scared me. I am only a day after you and we have nothing as yet. I think once we get the 20week scan out of the way i will be more inclined to start buying.

Tinkwings...massive hugs from me. I just cant appreaciate what you are going through and my thoughts are with you x

I am feeling really tired today even though i didnt get up until 10. I really dont know how i would cope if i had to work.

Am getting quite excited about my 20wk scan on thursday but also very nervous. I am hoping that everything will go ok and then i think i will be able to relax a little and start to buy things as i dont want to miss out on the baby events that are going on.

I still have to wait until next week to find out what they are going to do with me at the hypertension clinic as my 24hr cuff readings were ok

    xxxx
Beautiful baby boy arrived 20th June 2010...Harry..weighing 7lb 4oz on fathers day :j

    Afternoon all.

Tink so sorry to hear your news. Hope you can come back here soon, as and when you are ready.

Well we have the nursery finished!!!!

Just need a curtain rail putting up to put the new curtains on but other that we are finished anyway! Got the mattress today and have made the cotbed up just cos it looks nice, even though it won't be used for months!

Slept for 11+ hours again last night! Can't believe how much sleep I'm getting but I like it!

Going out for fish and chips tonight with parents, grandparents, sis, BIL and BIL's bro, as he is going back home to Australia tomorrow. Looking forward to it as the local chippy restaurant is lovely
