Just been for my first scan! :D

At first baby was sleeping all curled up, but sat straight up resting on their bent legs (kind of like kneeling down, but asleep) Then once the sonographer started moving the doppler thingy about, they woke up and were jumping all over the place, moving much more than DD was in her 12 week scan. Had a really good look at them, and it was a much clearer pic than last time too so got a lovely photo. It is a strange pic though as it seems like it is the wrong way round, as like I say baby was 'standing' straight upright, rather than lying down like in most scan pics, so it looks funny!

I chose not to have my nuchal fold scan. It wouldn't change my decision at all, and it is possible to get a false positive too so there would be all that worry for us and then baby would be fine, I prefer to 'cross that bridge' if and when iyswim. I didn't have any of the tests for DD either so I feel OK about it.

ETA: could you change my EDD to the 18th of June too please! Not too much difference I know but even so. :)

FR I feel the same, getting really tired now just walking around. I've put on almost 2 stone though so I guess carrying that around is quite an effort for my little body (I'm only 5'3" and usually just inder 9 stone!)

On Saturday morning I was saton the sofa and DH was on the pc and I was sat looking at the xmas tree and thinking about how lovely it would be ina couple of years' time when the three of us would be decorating the tree, and LO would be too small to reach the top so DH would have to lift him up to put the star on the top of the tree and I just started bawling!! DH just laughed at me of course!!
  • My OH thinks setting me off on a cry is hilarious fun. Stupid men, wish they could have just one day of what we feel!!!

I'm starting to panic about the labour side of having this baby, its not the idea of being in pain that worrys me but the idea of being in hospital surrounded by machines and doctor/midwife types. OH would never go for a home birth as this is our first but i'm genuinely frightened about going in. How many people are around you during the main event as it were? I'm guessing a midwife and maybe her back up which isnt to bad but I dont think I can handle more people than that other than OH.

Aww fishcake - i was the same. First thing to acertain is where you want to give birth - birthing centre or a midwife led unit or are you in a consutlant led unit? And then how you want to give birth (just g&a or more intervention) as how you want to give birth and where effects the ammount of persons and equipment in the room iyswim.

Even with high medical intervention - you can still have control over whats going on and who is with you - you can ask for no students and could ask for minimum intervention if you like.

for example - in my hosp:
just g&a (entonox) you can move around have a waterbirth etc - unless you get a bit high (lol) - they take it off you when you are pushing
tens you can move around but cant go into water - dosent always kill pain during later stages
pethidine - where i am they wont let you weight bear or go in pool after you have had this - only lasts a certain ammount of time
epidural (tiny pipe in the spine) - you are not allowed to weight bear and are lying on your side
Spinal block - injection in the spine - same as epidural
