OMG I have the baby carrier (like this) that I bought at an NCT sale in the washing machine and it's not sounding too healthy! It did say machine washable but OH is gonna go mental if it damages the washing machine. I've put it inside a pillow case, like you do with trainers to try and minimise the clips crashing around too much!:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator0

Boo- Thanks for your kind words, they really made me feel better. I'm going to start forcing myself out of the house more cos I think I get so down partly cos I'm quite isolated. Don't have any family or friends nearby and I'm self employed so it's very easy to get drawn into myself.
On the cake front - a while ago I got a catalogue for a big cake company and ordered lots of fancy stuff to use at christmas. I got chocolate ganache mix (yum yum!), mixes to make different fruit flavoured frostings, decorations, fancy cupcake cases and piping bags. I've always wanted to have a go at properly decorating cakes so I can't wait to do it. Got to wait til xmas tho cos stuff was quite expensive so need to use it when theres more than just 2 of us to eat them!

Ooh that sounds good, Muso! I love anything to do with baking, especially at Christmas and I think it make lovely gifts.
How cute are these http://www.mothercare.com/Mothercare-5-a-day-farm-muslin-squares/dp/B002JECX1O/sr=1-16/qid=1257247862/ref=sr_1_16/279-7771160-2749441?_encoding=UTF8&m=A2LBKNDJ2KZUGQ&n=42843041&mcb=core. Butting in again before reading everything, sorry!
Elastigirl, i know how it is, OH nearly lost me and DD and the emergency c-section was absolutely neccessary and thanks to his demanding a doctor (unfortunately my midwife changed half way through and she didn't bother to read my notes). The only thing is the recovery for a planned section is better than that of an emergency, also the risks are sooo much lower.
It's funny because i was speaking to my MIL (a head midwife) over the weekend about this and she'd rather i had a section again. One because of my size, i am really tiny and two because of the complications before. She has respected my idea that i'd like to go into labour naturally if the baby is smaller than DD was (she was only 6lbs8, small but big for me) and try, but her concern is that some midwives (she said especially Dulas/private midwives - please note this is her experience so no offence meant, and i can't comment as i have only her advice) tend to like their women try to keep going naturally sometimes more than neccessary. My MIL said once complications happen, especially if they have happened in previous labours, it is far better to get the baby out asap and have a healthy baby and mum, rather than continue naturally and run the risk of having a brain damaged baby or worse losing mum and/or baby.
She said the time frame between complications happening (dropped heartbeat/loosing consiousness) and getting the baby out is small in which to prevent brain damage. And that sadly she has seen it happen where the mothers refuse to listen to the hopsital MW but instead follow the private advice and they get bad outcomes. She also said she has at times had to order them out of the room so the hosp MW can interviene and do what they feel is neccessary.
She also went on to explain that the reason we rarely hear of seriously ill babies being born (due to serious complications at birth) or losing the mothers is because they do intervien, and the intervention is not a cop out, it is to prevent a possible bad outcome.
Personally, being in a similar situation to you, i'll most likely be in for a planned section (unless in the really slim chance bubs is predicted to only be about 5lbs like i was). I know it'll be for the best and even though the recovery is a bit tougher, the chances of something going wrong are lowerGenerally if people haven't been through a section, they can't comprehend it and think it's unneccesary. ANd it's fine being awake - i'll defo be awake this time. They chat away to you as normal while operating and you don't have to wait until you have woken to see you little bundle of joy!

Have to add to the above to all the other ladies - your chances of getting an inexperienced midwife like i did are extremely extremely slim, in fact nearly non-exhistent
Just make sure you have someone in with you that'll be willing to speak on your behalf if you need pethadine or something!!! Don't be afraid to ask and don't let them tell you no unless baby is coming out right then!

And before i scare anyone MIL also stated the likelyhood of complications arising that they consider a section is very low too
chances of needing one once in labour is very very slim!!!
