Before i forget, anyone that has had the diabetes test at 28 weeks what happens. Do you need to fast before it or do you just not eat after it? My appointment for ANC which i assume is for the test is at 3.30, now if i don't eat by 10am i get light headed etc so i don't want to spend the day dizzy for no reason(probably grumpy too).
I only fasted from 9pm the night before.
The GTT is totally harmless!
Unfortunately for me, it came back positive so I have 3 hospital appointments a week. It started as 1 appointment but from 36 weeks became 3. They very closely mintor you in my area as I am sure others.
Hope all goes well.0 -

Fidget; Congrats on your new arrival.
I'm probally being a complete whine baby but I'm a bit concerned about my boobs. One is leaking when its poked or squished even slightly which I gather is normal at this point in pregnancy but the other one doesn't, in fact the nipple is a slightly weird blue/purply color and lately the actual boob itself has been a bit sore and very very hot. Is this somethine I should be concerned about?
Also are there any tips on breast pads??? From what I've seen they are just expensive cotton wool pads which I'd rather buy, but I could be wrong. I definately need to start using one a night as I'm leaving little patches where Ive been laying.

Just a thought but do your bras fit right? If they are a bit tight they can press the nipple in which can stop the flow of milk- handy when your breastfeeding and baby pulls off, you can stop it quickly so your not dribbling everywhere, but if you want to see if you can get anything out, you could squeeze behind the nipple and see what happens. If they are uncomfortable hot flannels laid over them really soothes them. If the nipple is folded up or down on laying flat against the skin this can make a difference and can hurt, try resting with no bra on or a really thin crop top rather than bra, see if it's still the same. Don't worry that it will affect you breastfeeding though, you will be fine, they sort themselves out once they are needed. Although mine would leak if I squeezed them from about 25 weeks last pregnancy, they never leaked of their own accord until I had DD.
As far as breastpads go it all depends on how leaky you are, some people never leak a drop, I would soak through a normal breastpad in about 20 mins in the begginning. I tried the washable ones, I tried the cheapest ones, the johnsons ones every type you can get until I bit the bullet and bought some of the £4.99 a box ones (lansinoh are good, and the tommee tippee closer to nature ones)! however for me they were brilliant as I had to change them much less frequently, as they work like a disposable nappy and have an absorbant core, rather than just being a cotton pad (normal cotton pads wouldn't work as firstly you would end up with dried up fluff all over your boob, and secondly they are not dense enough)
So the expensive ones were actually mse for me in the end. I will be buying them throughout middle and end of pregnancy to spread the cost this time round.

Goodness we're a chatty lot today, spent all afternoon having a nap and this evening reading up on your all adventures. My day has been so dull in comparison. Lol Hoping for some new arrivals by the morning.
Night all

Am a little bit jealous about the nursery chat, we're in a 1 bed flat so babe will be in with us until we can afford to move (which feels like never).
Not sure of your layout, but my friend was in the same situation and when they found out the sex of baby, they made one corner of their bedroom into a bit of a nursery bit, just painted the alcove, put a curtain/ drape thing across and put some of babies stuff out. She said it was lovely to have something prepared to keep all babies stuff, and meant she could nest a little bit.0 -
BTW whats everyone think of the name Mae? Pronounced May am liking it for a middle name.
Mae was going to be our DD middle name, however she was 2 1/2 weeks late, and was born in June. This wasn't our reason for picking the name in the first place, however, my hormones turned me against it because of that! lol! I do love the name though, and it would def be on our list this time round if we end up on team pink again.0 -
hi all contractions are getting really painful now, just about every 5 mins now. I've sent dh to bed to try and get some sleep (not sure if he will tho) if every 5 mins continues (been an hour now) I'll call delivery suite and wake him up if they say we should go in.
I could really do with some sleep now but don't think I'll manage with contractions 5 mins apart!! I'm starting to worry cause baby is very wriggly so might end up turning round when they have been sitting the right way all the way thru the pregnancy. Just my luck to end up with a back to back baby right at the end!! May have to go on all fours for a bit to encourage Jr to stay as he/she wasTegan Lily arrived 4 November 2009 (3 days late)

Right I did catch up earlier before cadets and made a good size post only to hit the wrong button like a plonker and loose it all..duh! Anyhoo, I probably wont rememberit all so sorry if I miss anyone.
EA - yeay for getting your adress registered and love the pic of you at 15 I went thru that phase but never looked that good hehe. Oh and my lil lady wriggles more when cramped too.
32b - really feel for you hun not what you or your family need, I really hope both your Gran and Sis recover soon xxx
gymfiend - sometimes furniture goes on sale, usually if its being discontinued, but no gaurantees. Its worth checking with your local store though as we all stock different stuff depending on our size, sometimes stores will have stuff tahts not online too, specially if its older stock. Was there something specific you were after?
Cant remember who was talking about getting breathless, but I get that too. Mum notices it when I chat on the phone to her while walking the dog. Its because you diaphragm is being squished along with every thing else, thanks to growing bubs.
Oh and who ever said they had gotten their cow n gate cow, how long did you have to wait cos I havent had mine yet and its been ages, mind you so have some of the other things Ive signed up for.
Well got my leaving date sorted at work, woohoowill be starting 2 weeks annual leave 2nd Feb then Mat leave starts, now just need to sort out which days off am having in the last 6 weeks as am cutting down to 4 day week
Oh and thanks again to all the peeps who agree on the name Mae. Right can't remember much else and after going out collecting for the poppy appeal with the cadets tonight I should sleep well, so night all, and happy labour vibes to those in need xxBaby :female: Tahlie Lois born 15/3/10 7lb 12 oz :heartpulsWorking on baby no2

Fingers crossed and quick labour vibes for you fernliebee. Sounds like it could be time.
I can't sleep what-so-ever its dead annoying. I think I over did it with my afternoon nap which is irratating. So far I've had a tidy, washed up (so hard to do in silence), swept the floor and cleaned the bath!!!
OH is going to be so confused in the morning lol.
Hmmm...... do the plants need watering?

I am still here. phoned delivery suite and they just asked what I was doing for the pain and said to have a bath and take a couple of paracetamol!! I only phoned up because I was told that when your contractions reached 1:5-10 you should get in touch. The big question is when do I reach a point were I go in? I can handle the pain at the mo (currently every 3-4 mins apart) but should I be allowing for travel time and letting dh sleep? Why don't they just tell you to come in? Plus I think part of me is putting it off because once I go to hospital the reality of labour and coming home with a baby is inevitable whereas at the moment i am only concentrating on the contractions IYSWIM.Tegan Lily arrived 4 November 2009 (3 days late)
