Congrats on becoming a gran carlsberggal :) If you're anything like my mum you'll enjoy it all almost as much as your daughter!!

No inspiring tips really, other than to try & buy when good deals are on (we've picked up some bargain nappies in Sainsburys!& bought our cot when there were extra points at Boots), and if you're not bothered about second hand stuff, pop into charity shops for clothes (had some fabulous bargains there too), or eBay for bundles.

You've got me wanting a doppler now Gill, hmm...tempted, but only really want it so OH can hear the heartbeat just once as he can never make my midwife apps, will try to resist!

Lots of turning vibes for you Lou, xx

Leopardlady I'm so glad the pink spotting's cleared up, enjoy the nausea & sore boobs :D I know they're a pain but a lovely reminder at the same time that you're growing a little baby!

Bit of advance warning that this is a really dumb Q, but, what are you ladies buying toiletries wise? I went to Sainsburys today & couldn't see anything to buy, as I thought you're not meant to use shampoo/body wash etc on babies? Wipes too...how many do you reckon you'd get through in a week?

Ooh thanks for the belly band link Gill, gonna get one :D I was looking the other day but just far too cheap to spend the best part of a fiver on one!!

Aless I wouldn't have a cot yet if it wasn't for OH - he thinks we should have everything ready despite LO not being likely to sleep in there for at least a few months! I think it's mad but conceded to make him happy. & Beenie, I'd be unprepared in terms of sorting the house at 36+5 if it wasn't for OH making me do things :rotfl: and somehow I reckon I'll be unprepared for the birth & what I want right til the last minute!!!

Well I'm officially stressed up to my eyeballs, trying to sort out my tax return & actually had a full on cry about it earlier on. I was working such long hours til August that I admittedly didn't keep a very good handle on everything, so I've had to find and comb through every scrap of paperwork I had to try and get it sorted today. Horrible horrible job, OH just rang and I was clearly still upset and he told me off for being too cheap to just pay someone to do it for me, must admit he's probably right, won't be trying to do it myself ever again!

Think the bump band's meant to help keep them up Kindof :) & also allow you to wear tops that might otherwise be too short. I've bought a two pack as some of the maternity tops I've bought are too short, so hoping to just wear these underneath to fill the gap!

i bought most of the toielitries they had , baby bath , shampoo, talc powder , cradle cap, colic stuff, and 3 packs of 4 huggie wipes , i already have 10 packs of pampers , they say ( HV) not to use anything on babies , but all my 3 i used a little baby bath etc and it never done no harm , every one is different ,as it makes them smell lovely and makes there skin very soft , just dont oevr do it , at the price sainsburys are doing it for it will do from 3 months if you are a careful mother and only use water.
Dont forget that little Thanks button , only takes a sec

Ah ok, so you can 'officially' use products after 3 months?

I want to be careful as I've got fairly sensitive skin, and there are a couple of skin conditions running in my side of the family, so would rather err on the side of caution with his skin. Might pick up some bits tomorrow, I love the smell of the Johnson's shampoo :)

gym - I've heard never to use baby powder. Also no bath soap/shampoo at least at first. Newborn babies only need warm water - it's not like they sweat like us!! Why waste your money on stuff you don't need? I'd stick to essentials like nappy cream and wipes. Not sure how many wipes, as we're going down the reusables route. Even nappy cream you can find homemade natural remedies for, just depending on what sort of person you are.

Evening all, I have a box of celebrations :) OH parents gave them to us :D

Didn't go to sainsburys today, woke up at 12 and then spent all afternoon in OH's parents tattoo shop playing with our niece :)
She turned 1 yesterday but she's still so small! :)
Then looked at some fairy tattoos so I can turn them into stencils for the nursery lol

I miss having tattoos done, OH has loads planned but poor me gets stuck with a plain body while I'm preg and BF :( lol

Massive turning vibes for lou! (I think?? Bad memory today)

We decided not to have the 4D scan as we can't afford it now, and MIL asked about it today so I said were not having it, and they have said we can use the money they've been saving for baby stuff on it. I said no at first cause it's for baby stuff, but they said it's for anything baby related and the scan counts lol. And they know how much I want it so are forcing me to take it hehe :)

Just ignore me if it's not something that concerns you really, I'm always banging on about my natural stuff! :D I have very sensitive skin and didn't like the thought of using petrochemicals on DD's skin. And pretty much every type of baby product you can buy (even most of the ones labelled natural or organic) contain parabens and other chemicals which can be harmful to delicate skin. I was using really expensive handmade stuff, but then found the asda eco range. It is really cheap (about £1 for the baby oil, bubble bath or shampoo) and it is just as good as any of the expensive ones. It has no parabens or other chemicals in it, and is fine on mine, and DD's really sensitive skin. I Just used water for the first 3 months, but then occasionally would use a teeny tiny amount of the natural body wash to get under her sticky neck, it's amazing what gets under there! Apart from that, they don't get that dirty until they start on solids.

With the baby powder, I think it's not advised because talc has been found to be carcinogenic and so should be avoided, also can be a cause of nappy rash, as if you apply too much the moisture sticks it to their bum and keeps moisture on the skin, rather than the nappy wicking it away like it should. If you do like talc though for after the bath etc, you can by Talc free baby powder, based on cornstarch. Johnsons even make one, but it may only be available in america.

Just to say although it smells lush, johnsons are the worst for the levels of chemicals in their baby products!

Sorry, mini rant over! :D I just go on because it's something I am passionate about, but I'm not judging anyone who uses products etc, just that it's not right for me and mine.
