Well I think we all are entiled to our own opinions, if you feel happy using one great but for me as a new mum I wouldn't be so confident in telling the difference between things so it might give me extra anxiety that I don't need rather than reassurance. I just wanted people to have all the facts before making a decision imho.

We are of course, but thinking that one silly woman is the norm is misleading and incorrect. She obviously used no common sense anyone with an iota of intellect would seek medical help if the baby was not moving.. I think under such circumstances even I would ring just to be on the safe side!

I wouldn't advise one if you are the paranoid type, anyone who is that is. Also i would only advise one if you have already heard bubs heartbeat at a couple of midwife appointments, at the first appointment you can tend to gage what sound is what part, ie, you should be able to tell your own heartbeat, the cord/placenta is quite like a flowy beat and bubs will be a little racing solid beat. Without having heard it at the antenatal appointment first i doubt many would know what they are looking for ;) including me.

But i used one on my first, hired a proper one for the stage before you are getting constant movements, sent it back then - i found it fascinating, but then again i'm not really a panicker so wasn't using it for reasurrance as such but more for fun :)

Choccy - Love the pics, Bump is looking good too! x

Gillby1 - That would have been me. That's what i was hoping too - just something to calm my nerves a little when the time comes. I have my CD, just waiting for a quiet moment to chill out and listen to it.

I hope the rest of you are well - sorry for the ones feeling a bit poo and appropriate vibes where needed ;):D x

Ok, well i have finally spoken to midwife - lol, guess what...yup go to labour ward :( Boo! Well i am going to go in the morn as i have no one to look after DD as daddy is working till 11pm tonight. Without driving it's a mission - 2 trains and a bus, also being 3 days before hubbies payday we are a little skint so a cab is out of the question :o ....makes sense to go tomorrow instead as getting there is 1hr, then to be monitored for a few hours will take us late into the night and it's difficult to get back ;) Just gonna keep my legs and fingers tightly crossed until then. :p

Well something tells me time is near - i want to be on all fours all of the time, lol! It's far more comfy! I have gone nuts for sweets and anything sugary - i have a small bottle of cherry coke and a bag of foamy banana sweets, choc chip muffins (4pack) and i'm munching the lot :o To keep DD happy and off my case a little she has got a bag of Haribo Micro Mix :eek::eek: and this is all from the mummy who doesn't like sweets and junk food in the house :o:D.....we'll both be super hyper later, lol :j:j:j

I also think i should now consider buying some raspberry leaf tea - might stop me having my normal morning cuppa too, at least a bit healthier!

Yes of course if bubs isn't moving you should ring in and they should never be used to reassure when not moving for significant time. Just don't think it is for me this time maybe for my next when feeling more used to things :)

Exactly.. but maybe if that mum had had a bit of common sense she wouldn't have lost her baby.. but she will never know sadly.. such a shame for her though. I am just bemused as to why she didn't contact her GP at least.. I think 99% of health professionals are total morons but I'd not put my baby at risk because of that!

    Hi all

Have just caught up. DH is cooking dinner, it's taking ages and I'm starting to feel sick but I daren't say that!!

Two weeks till scan day, I think we're pretty much decided not to find out the sex; I'm much happier with this and I think hubby, although he would like to know, likes a quiet life more :o:rotfl:

Can I just ask, those of you who work, when you have one of those weeks where you're just exhausted and feel you're neither use nor ornament do you just press on at work or do you call in sick? And if you do call in, what's your reason? I mean you can't just say I'm knackered and fed up can you!
Don't think we are going to find out either, I don't want to, I think DH would do otherwise but he'll go with what I say! :p

I was tempted to ring in sick today, but the problem is then when I go back there's even more to do. I am finding the commuting so exhausting, but half way for this week and I have the dentist at 9.15 tomorrow here so no need to rush out :D

    Hello everyone

Just one more day left at work for me now! Eeeek! My boss came to see me which was nice as I didn't think she'd get time.

Labour vibes for Mo and Moosmummy

Smartie - fab news about hearing heartbeat

I have an angelsounds doppler (used with galpharm lubricant from the £1 shop as recommended by Nikkit lol) I found it really useful at first as I have an anterior placenta so wasn't feeling much movement. Don't really use it now as bubs is mega active! I couldn't pick anything up until 18 weeks with mine tho. It takes a bit of patience and research into what you are look for tho, but it's fairly easy to tell the difference between my heartbeat, the whooshing of the placenta and little man's trainlike heartbeat. That poor woman tho, must be devastating :(

I think I'm inclined to agree with MGEB about only getting a doppler if you know what you're listening for. I heard baby's heartbeat at 8 weeks so knew what I needed to hear on the doppler.
