Yay CAFC well done to your hubby:D

I like pink, in fact after having 3 boys and now this one being a girl I think she will live in pink;) Nah, tbh, I do like pink but it can get a bit samey...I have seen some lovely bits in Asda in lilac/white, lemon, mint green they are cute and I will definitely get a mixture:)

I would DEFINITELY recommend a baby swing, I would not be without one now.

Can't seem to shake my bad mood today!!!

I'm glad I'm not the only one still waiting for my boots stuff, I joined on the 20th jan and nothing. :(

Whoever asked about the sainsburys box, yes defo worth it, best freebie I've had. Had 2 emmas diaries bags and a bounty but they're not really up to much. Midwife has left me the newborn bounty bag with my homebirth kit but I've been good and not peeked. :A

Cow and gate don't send toy cows out anymore either, just leaflets. Oh but the coinks points you get from emmas diary are good, I used mine for an extra bag and £10 off the cot I wanted from argos. Linky http://www.emmasdiary-coinks.co.uk/home_ver2/

  • Hi I agree with everyone else the bounty packs are a bit poor not worth a special journey to pick them up. Just got the late pregnancy one today and its very disappointing. I did use my £5 voucher at the disney store to get a free rattle the voucher is out of Aprils Mother and Baby mag and gives £5 off any disney baby product.

Bit random, but it's almost at that stage where I'm going to have to 'officially' inform work about going on mat leave. What should I put on there? Is it just the basic like 'I, Rebecca will being going on ML, starting x'? Do I need to put when I'll be returning? I'm hoping to find other work and not go back, but I'm deffo not telling her that ;). She's already had my matb1, so I assume she's sent it off to HO. Cheers in advance.

    Hi Bexta

It could depend on where you work, but according to ACAS they say the following :
To qualify for maternity leave, you must tell your employer by the end of the 15th week before the expected week of childbirth:
    • that you are pregnant
    • the expected week of childbirth, by means of a medical certificate if requested
    • the date you intend to start maternity leave. This can normally be any date which is no earlier than the beginning of the 11th week before the expected week of childbirth up to the birth.
Your employer must then write to you within 28 days of her notification, setting out your return date. You can change this date if you give your employer 'eight weeks' notice.

    http://www.acas.org.uk/index.aspx?articleid=1753

Doesn't say you have to give a return date yet!

    Good luck!

Is odd though they state 15 weeks before EWC but here the mw said I don't get my MATB1 until 28 wk appointment, does anyone know if I can get it earlier?

you can call up and ask the midwife to leave you one when she does one of her clinics that you can pick up at reception - that's what I did with mine - just told a white lie and said that the HR department were chasing me for it.

Hi everyone! I've posted here a few times in the past, but since i'm usually only on here during work hours i don't get much chance. Anyway, we now have the internet up and running at home and i only have 1 week left until i start maternity leave :j, so hope you won't mind me joining in properly! I'm exactly 35 weeks pregnant, and I think this thread might just save my sanity over the next month or so...

Does anyone else find it really reassuring reading about all the ladies who've had their babies over the last few months? The birth stories have really helped me to stop worrying about what's going to happen, so thanks to all you graduates!

Anyway, have a huge craving for fish and chips, and as DF (Dear Fiance?) is out with the boys, i might just waddle over the road and treat myself!

    Gilly xx

    Welcome Gillby1 :)

I do love reading the birth stories on here and hearing news from those who have just had their baby. I think it is very reassuring, just to know women come out the other side of it all hehe. I just can't get my head round being one of those myself, and actually having a baby at the end of it all. It's just so wonderful to read about how happy the new mummies are with their little bundle of joys! ;)
