Ah I see. There is a little story why Astrid is on our list: Hubby wanted Kylie on the list as he is a big Kylie fan, but I said no, but we are both Dr Who fans, Kylie played a character called Astrid! But there is a lovely meaning to the name Astrid as well.

I have a feeling though we may choose a different name all together!

The girl's name Astrid \a-st-rid, as-trid\ is pronounced AS-trid. It is of Old Norse origin, and its meaning is "fair, beautiful goddess". Scandinavian name. Use in the English-speaking world is influenced by 20th-century Queen Astrid of the Belgians. Brazilian singer Astrud Gilberto.
Astrid has 10 variant forms: Assa, Assi, Asta, Astra, Astri, Astride, Astrud, Astryr, Atti and Estrid.
Baby names that sound like Astrid are Astria, Asteria and Astrea.
Astrid is a popular female first name and a very rare surname (source: 1990 U.S. Census).

I have liked the name since we found out we were pregnant, but I am scared that baby would get teased with an unusual name. Haven't told any of our family of potential names because I don't them to say 'ooh thats not nice!'
