I had my first scan and book in visit with the midwife today. All went well (except the baby wouldn't stay still long enough for her to get a decent measurement). One thing the midwife said was that breastfeeding is now "expected" of mothers. I didn't think to question at the time but thinking about it, when I had my son 5 years ago, I received NO support at all. They put a lot of pressure on me into trying but provided no support so it didn't work out for long. I asked for help several times in hospital but there was never anyone who could help apart from shoving DS on and walking away. Has support for inexperienced breastfeeders come on since then? I would like to bf for longer this time, I would ask the midwife but I won't see her for another 4 weeks. x
I was given lots of support BF in hospoital although Alfie was a natural so didn't need too much but I think if I'd wanted they'd have stayed with me as long as I needed. The lady in the bed next to mine had one MW with her for quite a while helping her get bubs latched on etc0 -
Think I need to get off the internet, keep doin these silly baby sex predictor quizes, OH is convinced its a girl, and so are the quiz results, I went to see a clairvoyant last year who predicted I would be having a little boy this year. I am not bothered either way but OH keeps suggesting names! Got ages to think about it!0

im having a bit of a dilemma....
DH doesnt want to be at the birth, which is fine by me as I dont think Im going to find him a great coach etc, and hes just not very good with medical hoo-ha...
He's gonna be with me for a while but when it comes to actually birthing, he wants to be out of the room.....
But now Im a bit nervous about whose gonna be with me..... parents live 300 miles away, and only just moved here so dont know anyone. Sister lives here but is really squeamish and we're not really that close.....
I guess its because i dont really feel at all bonded with my midwife..... to be honest i feel like shes a bit judgemental......
So Ive developed a paranoia that not having anyone there who is just "for me" is going to make birthing harder, or do you think havig DH till push time will see me through..... maybe by the time I get to pushing,I wont care.....Wealth is not measured by currency0 -

I have also been playin on a name generator, it generated 'Flick Jessica' as a name, made me laugh as we have a damn annoyin hamster called Jessica, I showed the screen to my OH and asked 'Can I please' lol0 -

xmaslolly - I can't think of anything worse than seeing myself give birth lol. I can see where you're coming from though.
CAFC - I'd hate it if my DH wasn't with me. Would he not stay but just be up near your head and not look at what's going on down below?? Failing that would your mum come and stay around the time of the birth? I guess it's hard tho as it could be anywhere within a 5 week period!
Inlaws have just left, I'm shattererd now. Bump was really active and I could see him moving and kicking, think he liked all the voices! MIL tried to feel the moving but awkward little so and so stopped as soon as she put her hand there then moved when she took it away lolMummy to Thomas born April 27th 2010 8lb 5oz0
