EA - that's fab news about the playpen, good for your inlaws! Can't believe she was going to sell it knowing that you're Lily's on the way and she didnt even pay for it!!!
Can anyone give me some advice about baby monitors? I definitely want one with a sensor pad and was going to get the Angelcare one, but the Tommee Tippee is quite a bit cheaper and has good reviews. I'm just trying to figure out if these are the same product or not though!

The Tommee Tippee site is rubbish, it doesn't feature either of them!!Mummy to Thomas born April 27th 2010 8lb 5oz0 -
Found this about car seats:
http://www.babycentre.co.uk/baby/safety/carseatsleepexpert/
I think it's good that this was raised because a lot of people don't know about the dangers of babies being in car seats for long periods of time, BUT I think a hard and fast rule of 45 minutes is probably a little extreme, especially for those of us who have no choice but to make a long journey in the first few weeks (us - my DH's brother's wedding 5 hours away, 4 weeks after due date). Of course we will just have to break it up as much as possible, but we can't stop every 45 minutes, and I'm not going to believe that my baby will suddenly stop breathing because it's been in a car seat for 46 minutes.
Also re: travel systems, it's nigh on impossible to find a pram that isn't a travel system these days. Travel system does not = car seat, it means having a system that is flexible and that means having a seat that can be parent or forward facing, goes from birth to toddler, has a removable carry cot etc., as well as for some people having a compatible car seat. I've heard lots of people condemn travel systems because they think people just use them with a car seat all the time, but most of us don't plan to do this at all!
Re: cloth nappies, thank you for the info. I definitely think you're right about not buying an entire set before the baby's born as we might not get on with them. How many/what type would you say is the best to start off with in order to see how we go? And would you recommend buying a couple of different brands straight off?0 -

My neice pretty much used to always be in her car seat and she's still breathing
So i'd assume your fine lol0 -
I bought a car seat to go in the car.. and it won't be coming out! I bought a pushchair for when out and a bouncy chair for in the house and of course the crib.. The car seat is able to be attached to a pushchair chassis but I got it because the non-chassis one didn't have SIS and this one does.. maybe they thought a pushchair need side impact protection lol.. they've seen me driving a pushchair obviously lol
Ooh.. playpen.. I'll scrounge mine back from DS1 when I need it.
Monitors.. I'm having the angelcare one.. it saved lives in my house. I am confident in its usage and its ability to work effectively.
Off to buy knitting patterns today.. and some more wool.. I have 3 cardigans now.... all white ones... so I may get some lemon or cream or peppermint today..

pigpen - yeay for knitting, wish I could, tho with teh amount of knitted stuff thats been made for us I kinda dont need to lol.
Gill - both of those we sell at work, but since we started to stock the angelcare one it is def more popular, have no experiance with it tho sorry.
DP - you make some really good points and your right, even if bubs is in the seat for an hour there not just gonna stop breathing, there would be signs. Your also so right about people being very un educated about car seats, in my experiance most people chose ther car seat based on if it a) fits there pushchair, b) looks nice, or c) its what there friends have!!! Hello what about how safe the seat is and does it fit your car doh! Most annoying comment "I want a pink one" Grrrr!!
EA - yeay for play pen, think my MIL needs one too as she has so many ornaments and this big concrete fireplace that aren't very child/baby friendly. On the bra front I was 36DD pre PG, currently in 40DD and 40E according to measuring Im a 44B!!! But after trying on bras I come up at 40DD again. so honestly if you arent gonna buy mothercare bras probably not worth getting measured by them, unless you want to just get an idea of how they should fit in which case the fitter can do this. On the voucher front could you not use them for wipes? I know some of them are money of nappies and some are just money of any pampers product.
Well going into town if OH gets of his ipod lol, just having some pasta salad firstBaby :female: Tahlie Lois born 15/3/10 7lb 12 oz :heartpulsWorking on baby no2

They are for pampers products, but im using johnsons wipes lol. They were the best in my testing
(i have sensitive skin on my face and i figured the baby's would be more sensitive, so anything that reacted badly with my skin im choosing not to use)
Well it was either mothercare of debenhams to get measured, and they seem nicer in mothercare:o
My mum thinks i have thrush in my mouth, the white spots i mentioned on my tongue. Well i have a few more now and a really sore throat. So i trip to the GP is in order because im not to sure how thrush in your mouth works lol.
Oh and also, your OH sounds like mine with the Ipod hehe. I have given him a job, he has to make a playlist of nice piano music for when im in labour. I said i prob wont want to be distarcted by songs with words, so piano music is good0 -
ooh nice, I have some lovely music on my ipod that my friend recorded she is a fab keyboard player and managed to get some piano stuff done too so gave me a copy. She's promised to teach baby girl to play when either she is 4 or can count to 10, probably be the latter with us lol. I have a cd that used to come with the silver cross pushchairs and that has some fab instrumental/classic music on it too, very chilled.Baby :female: Tahlie Lois born 15/3/10 7lb 12 oz :heartpulsWorking on baby no2
