fernlie - the reason those countries keep there children facing reward so long and yet the law here doesnt require it is down to accident rates. Those countries are mainly the nordic ones where they have lots of bad weather and there traffic accidents are far more common and alot worse due to conditions. Same way that Volvos always have head lights on, because there law requires it beacause of the bad weather and its alot darker more often there. The reward facing car seats are available here in the UK but cost alot more money. Also if you read something like the which report it explains they are really awkward to fit and chances of them being installed incorrectly are very high, there fore the seat becomes useless and dangerous. Its all a minefield really for most parents, but as a trained car seat fitter and with a fair bit of knowledge I would stick to using whats recommended here in the UK for our cars and condition, but thats just my opinion and everyone is entitled to their own. If you really want the best and have it in your car then Isofix is best everytime.
Yeah I agree about the accident rates but for me I feel the most dangerous thing my DD does statistically is travel in the car. The britax first class allows them to rear face until 13kg instead of the standard 9kg so thats why we went for that one, and will do the same with new baby. I'm not saying I think it should be law here that until 4 they travel rear facing, but personally I feel that at 9 months they are too small. Just my opinion and if you watch the comparison crash dummy tests you can see just how much less impact they suffer when rear facing. Not only stopping death in serious accidents but also minor things such as whiplash etc. As I was saying it's just a personal rant of mine, and something I feel really strongly about.0 -
Hi ladies Hope everybody is well.
Congratulations to nikkit &hugs for baby
big Labour vibes for those that require them
Can anybody advise me about prams please?
I had my heart set on a mamas&papas pramette-Not sure about colours yet but preferably something neutral which will suit boy or girl but not black.Won't be buying yet though as baby isn't due until july 6 or maybe earlier due to c section. The problem is I'm very petite and only weigh 7 stone now at 21 weeks pregnant & I have back problems so pushing and manouvering(sp) will be an issue.Hubby thinks that one of those prams which is just like a car seat on a pram frame is more suited to me just for short trips out alone-I have seen a lady in town with one but haven't a clue what it's called or how much it costs so need help finding out about it.We have decided on pramette for hubby and my family to use and the smaller pram for me.Can anybody advise further.ThanksLove can tame the wildest0 -

gill_81uk I was bought the tommee tippee one as a gift when I was pregnant with my daughter and thought it was great very sensitive and very reassuring when she was little - so much so we found it difficult to stop using it! We bought another one this time when it was £40 in the asda event. I would definitely recommend it.0

I think those two are actually the same one i think the amazon one looks slightly different because it is pictured with the night light on whereas the argos one the light is off they certainly seem to be identical to the one I have. I am not 100% that they are the same but they seem to me to be.0
