Sometimes I have a spell where I don't post, I guess I just want to say that I know everyone here loves me and I know you're all there when I come out of hibernation :). I think I work on the assumption that's what most of us do?

I don't post as often as I used to. I'm busy with work, uni, puppies, children etc., and I just can't keep up with the thread as it moves so fast. I sometimes can't remember who has what children, especially if it's not on their sig :o

I do glance in and comment where I can, but it's hard to keep up with everything that is going on.
Here I go again on my own....

    Hi ladies and Bruno!

I'm kind of back!! There's a lot going on in RL at the moment which, without going into too much detail, has resulted in my sister temporarily moving in with us and her wedding being called off next year :(

Caitlin's sleeping is awful at the moment. We are all really tired. I counted the number of times we had to get up to her last night and it was 13 between 11:30 and 7:15. It's been like this for nearly three weeks now. I spoke to the HV and she asked if I'd started weaning yet. When I said no because Caitlin isn't 26 weeks yet, she said that it might be time to start . Anyway, because the sleeping situation wasn't getting any better, I tried a bit of baby rice and have since tried sweet potato, carrot and pear. She's taking a little bit more each day (apart from the carrot that she wasn't too impressed with!) but the sleeping is no different.

Has anyone got any ideas? We're not as tired as in the early days but are slowly heading that way...

    Anyway, I bet I've missed loads :D

I've just read back a couple of pages but need to get my bottom out of bed very soon as we have the carpet cleaning man coming at 9am.

I saw you were talking about Xmas pressies. DH and I have done something similar to Elle. We've both got a budget and have got to buy and wrap things in secret for Caitlin. My mum has made Caitlin a stocking so I'm also going to get the things for that. I have bought DH and me a stocking each too and will take charge of that. I'll just buy my own bits for mine :D.

Is anyone else doing a stocking for their baby? I'm not putting much in and wanted most of it to be useful as it's more for our benefit than Caitlin's this year :D. So far I've planned to put in a toothbrush and toothpaste (no teeth yet but she's bound to get some at some point :D), bubbles, socks, a bath toy, some bubble bath and a banana. I might also put some vests in depending how much room there is because I'll need to buy her some in the new year anyway.

I haven't read back any further so I'm sorry I haven't put any individual messages on as I didn't want to mention some people but not others. I really must get out of bed now so haven't got time to read any more. I hope everyone is doing OK and I hope to be back with you all properly very soon.

    xxx

Just had to pass on this comment left on the ammerican 'mom' site I vist
" If only more people would actually stop pretending they are true believers, if only people would make believers feel shame for believing in bronze age beliefs, if only people would realize they only believe because they were indoctrinated at a young age by their parents who didn’t do it maliciously but did it none the less because they themselves were indoctrinated by their parents, maybe then the world would finally wake up from the stupidity and outright sham religion is, was and will be, and make the world a better place. Indoctrinating your children into any religion equals child abuse, of the worst kind."

yep bringing your kids up with religion is child abuse of the worst kind, much worse than say beating them
I think in the US because there are a much higher proportion of Christians than here, it is a bit more "in your face" so you get more non-Christians who are rather anti-religion as a result.

We never had sleep problems but from what I've read it doesn't sound like weaning actually makes a great deal of difference for the majority of babies.

Stockings - we did some rubber ducks the first year and a book last year. Planning on a couple of books this year.

Glam - that woman can get stuffed, you do whats best for your baby. I was out the other day and trying to feed Austin while he screamed and fought and this woman came over and said "you shouldn't force him to eat if he's not hungry dear"....!!!!!!, he was hungry, but there are other issues, why do people insist on butting in!

SusanC- i know formula isn't poison, i did ok on it, and i've been really supportive of friends when thet've had to give up, but i don't think i really appreciated how hard it would be for me to give up, i just want to know i gave it my best shot and tried everything before i gave up....then i can go onto formula more happily if i need to, does that make sense??

3 - i'll try oats today, will go and make myself some brekkie in a mo, its worth a go!

Elle - Have you looked at Build-a-bear? We've got Austin a litle personalised snowflake tree decoration for his first christmas, its very cute and it's something we can get out every year for him

Chopsticks - Have you heard of the 4 month sleep regression, could it be that? Maybe slightly late but babies do all things when it suits them, it means they wake more at night because they're making so much developmental progress that the don't rest as peacefully? My sisters just gone through it with her baby and he did it for 4 weeks and then went back to sleeping through

    Good morning campers.

Not had a chance to keep up with you all I’m afraid. Been trying to read the odd page here and there.

Elle – thanks for asking about me. Things with my mum have not really progressed. She phoned the other day “to make up”, however she has not paid any attention to anything I have said and really just wants to pretend nothing has happened. However, I know it will all rear up again in the near future so would rather deal with the issues. This results in her flinging insults at me again and not actually listening. It’s her birthday on Thursday and I don’t know what to do about it. My dad visited again last night, and he is seeing Holly chattering away and smiling loads etc and she is missing out on it. I feel so guilty, but it really is time to take a stand and make her sort herself out. Unfortunately no-one else cares so she thinks it’s just me and it’s all in my head.

Hugs to Ladybird and RMac for your grans.

Well done Seth and any other clever babies. :T

Congrats to Glam on becoming an aunty!

Sorry, can’t remember anything else or haven’t caught up. If there is anything important, please feel free to fill me in!
