tsstss - i've just noticed our DS are a similar age! Where do you shop for his clothes now? I've noticed Asda/Tesco's etc all stop at 11/12 ish. Do we have to go to proper mens shops and buy small mens sizes? My friend has a boy the same age, but lives in tracksuits/sports wear - which seems to be easy to find for any age.

Glam I also like the cheeky look on the third, but the first is cute too.

I now give DS1 a clothing allownace of £10.00 / month for non essential clothing as I was getting fed up of increasingly expensive demands for clothes and he chooses his own clothes. I'm hoping this will also go some way towards solving the "going off it " problem also!!

He will shop at Primark if he sees something he likes but is mostly a fashion snob and likes a shop called republic and h&m (for skinny jeans apparantly they are a must have).

I also find that at about 10 the choices of places to buy clthes became very limited and we have literally done a primark/next/matalan thing for the last two years but now he is a bit bigger he can do some small mens stuff (but only if it is very small). He recently got himself a "superdry jacket" with his SATS [STRIKE]bribe [/STRIKE] reward (for getting all grade 5's :T) which he got in a ladies size as the shop assistant said (and it seemed to be true) that the style was identical.

I have to say though that he very much leads me on this I've never been a follower of fashion and I'm still mystified as to why he feels it neccesary to wash and style his hair EVERY day!!??

    Morning all
Mooki, I am SO glad that at the end of your post there was a basically-happy ending... as I read it I was getting more and more worked up, envisaging writing to MPs, starting tabloid campaigns...!

Tiny child seems on better form this morning - yesterday he was literally gouting drool everywhere and that's all settled so hopefully the molar has come through in the night (I am no good at checking, he gets very very angry with me), and his snot has dried up and he is breathing better... we saw the doctor yesterday, no problem with referral straight away to paediatrician but he didn't have much else to add.

I am beginning to realise that one of the subtle ways parenthood is eroding my self-identity is in my bedtimes! All my adult life, at least 16-18 years, I have been going to bed between 11 (unusually early) and 12.30. When I started working in offices and living with a commute (the last 5 years) that crept to usually bed before midnight, but nothing more than that. The last few months, I have frequently gone to bed before ten  because it is the only way I can cope with the night-time wakings without going mad.

I haven't minded, because I've been exhausted and therefore wanted to sleep. But it is beginning to feel really weird. I see movies on starting at 9 and know I can't watch them! I hope we get his sleep sorted soon and I can go back to the old schedule :(

Mookie - The way they have treated you and your husband is disgraceful.....I really don't know how you can go on working there, I would have walked out, sued for every penny and then petrol bombed their cars:o
I hope you (both) are not planning on staying there too much longer? I also know someone who works in a law firm, she has just finished her 2yr training contract in October, and she has told me some real horror stories about how the staff are treated:eek:

Elle - that list of food sounds bizarre...pink wafers and marshmallows:confused:

Kai has been a whingey bum this morning, he is normally really happy until about 9-10am when he starts getting tired.

I just don't know what the future holds for us, I am just waiting day by day for my money from SFE that they still haven't paid to me....I can't even afford to get to uni next week. This situation is just ridiculous and there is nothing I can do about it. If they eventually give it me before Christmas then I am thinking of blowing it on a Disneyland Paris trip:oI think we could all do with a break and a bit of fun.

    Mel x

Slow on here as well, I've been reading threads over in the Arms - dead cliquey over there!
I went to the arms once and got lynched !!! Never go back there again !!

Oi, we're not so bad over there - that's where I started on MSE and where I met Marley :p Seriously, they're lovely people, just that most of them have too much time on their hands. If anybody wants to venture in, let me know when and I'll accompany you so that you don't have to wander in on your own .........

Silly question which I should (because I shouldn't have stayed in the house for so long) know the answer to.. What are SureStart centres like?

I don't know! I'm central to three different SS centres and haven't ventured to any of them yet, although one of them does send me a quarterly newsletter listing the activities - I just received the "autumn" one at the start of November, so I've missed most stuff! I wish they had decent websites, perhaps I should offer to do one for them. Our HV doesn't reside there, she's at a clinic building even closer to my home, so once the midwife visits finish I shall venture over there for weekly weighings. I know Baby Massage happens at one of the centres and also at the clinic; there's a song-and-story session for under 2s at our local library; and I think there are various tumbletot days; but no baby signing, I'd have to travel further for that (I've looked that up on tinternet).
