I was going to ask the ones with older kids about PSP's but I think Mel might have shown earlier that hubby and I are well out of touch on this one.

DSS has asked for a PSP for Christmas. He is prepared to put money towards it if he needs to. Our initial thoughts is that the PSP is too old for him, most of the games are older games which we would not allow him to play. He is 10 in January, we MAY let him play a 12 on a console IF we were watching/playing with him. We would definitely not let him play any older games on a hand-held.
He has never mentioned it before and we are unsure if a) it is just a reaction to us asking him what he would like for christmas and b) whether it is actually a suitable gift for a 9 (nearly 10) year old boy.

    Any thoughts?

Ooooops what did I say earlier?

Psp - my two have them and there are quite a few 12 and under games, my looooooove LocoRoco even though it is has age rating of 3 on it... They spend ages on it.. Some other good games are
Daxter age 7, burnout age 3, sonic rivals 1&2 age 7, echochrome age 3, ratchet and clank age 7, worms age 7, patapon 1&2 age 7....theses are some of the ones we have ( I haven't mentioned any older ones!)

my two love their PSPs we chose them over ds's cos there seemed to be sooooo many girly games on the ds and more boy oriented games on PSP like the racing and (maybe not your taste) shooting games.

    Mel x

Feelie at Toby's age its the chewing that is the most important bit as he's still getting most nutrition from milk, if he's swallowing some things then I wouldn't worry he obviously can do it :)

Hubby just had a tanturm because he 'forgot' to brush Chris's teeth (I have to remind him EVERY time ) and Chris realised and wouldn't go to bed until he'd had them brushed so I tolh him to go brush them  Chris was upset saying he didn't want brown teeth (I'm a bad mummy and scare him into letting me brush them)

on the brightside I just managed to get Ed to have some teething powders :j I let him chew my finger then dipped wet finger in powder rince repeat :D

MFD, we have got DS1 (8) a PSP, can't remember what games, lemmings, Ben 10 I think and futarama dvd thing. There are kiddy games and DVDs out there, just not too many. Which is good really, means they can't ask for loads.

Feelie, Toby sounds fine to me. At his age he is getting most fo his nutrition from your wonderful boobu juice, food is just fun. Sounds like he is just having a lot of fun learning about food. Please try and not think of it as 'mess', but as a wonderful learning experience for Toby who will grow up with a healthy attitude to food. I know loads of people who have fed their babies in the bath so that they can really get into it, but it can all be cleaned up easily! :D

Touch wood, everyone seems to be on the mend here. Just a tummy bug all round, but it is very very very stressful looking after 3 children and a husband all with the squits.

I'd go for a nice relaxing bath, but with one bathroom in the house, I don't fancy trying to relax amongst the stench of viral tummy problems....

Can I ask why you don't let him have toppings? I'm thinking if he's having the pizza a bit of sweetcorn, mushroom etc won't hurt?

I think SM meant he was having takeaway pizza at 9mths??

If anyone hears of a crazy woman trying to give her baby away on the news tonight its me :o I seem to have misplaced my patience
the bit in bold made me laugh!
i'd let seth eat pizza :o he has had mcdonalds chips too and burger king chips too, a whole once of each!! IMO it really doesnt matter, a whole 5-6 chips in 8 months really isnt an issue for me. he's had two whole crisps as well! feel free to shoot me now!! his ultimate favourites are caramel snack a jacks :o

personally, i think the PSP is much more worth it than the DS, cos the PSP will grow with him to a degree IYSWIM. some of the games are 12 rated yes, but he is 10 now, and the console will still have games coming out in two years. even if they werent, he would still be able to buy the games for it for years to come. i do think saying you would only let him play a 12 rated game if you were watching him is a little OTT, but thats just my opinion :o he almost definitely sees much worse than he would see in a 12 game on tv, if not at yours then at his mums/friends/grandparents/playground...
