Hi all,
Productive day despite annoying lack-of-sleep start, did a huge supermarket shop (literally can't fit everything into our tiny fridgesome things being eaten extra rapidly), and went to the British Museum and met my parents there. Spent an hour in one of the big galleries walking after Elijah's high-speed toddle and whenever he got near a door to escape, carrying him back. Also carried stroller+baby up and down 16 flights of stairs between two trains and two tubes. Back hurts now, I feel aged!
Made a nice thai green chicken curry tonight to use up last week's veg that needed eating, had half a bottle of wine, and then Gu chocolate mousse for dessert as a treat. Bath and sleep calling me. Ironically although Elijah is fine with the fireworks going on it appears, I know they would keep me awake!
Fed him supper 45 mins later tonight, put him to bed 30 mins later, hoping it makes a difference to his early rising, fingers crossed!
Skimmed back here and there, main thing that caught my eye was Caz becoming manager!! I am so pleased for you Caz, isn't it great how that job has turned outcongrats!

Oooh.. I'd forgotten you could freeze yoghurt! Was is Glam who used to freeze pots of yoghurts with lolly sticks in, instead of ice lollies?
Nope! I used to make smoothies and freeze the leftovers into lollies!
Bruno - boo for bad back but YAY for Gu puddings
RR was good - did use too much GS but hey I know for next time!

frozen yoghurt, how stupid of me not to think of that
i didnt think you could freeze it, but then what on earth are you buying as the healthy option instead of ice cream if it isnt yoghurtwhat a goon!
seth eats 3 yoghurts a day, one after lunch, one mid afternoon and one after dinner... that will save me more than a few penniesdo you think natural yoghurt would be ok with flavouring?
Em - Izzy loves natural yoghurt, or I mixe it with fruit puree. I look out for the going over fruit they put on offer at the end of the day -if I'm going to puree and freeze it then it doesn't matter if it needs using today
I keep meaning to try some savoury ones too - cucumber yoghurt for one. I'm not sure what else I could do?
Caz - congratulations on the job! And have you tried mixing a bit of baby rice into Erin's yoghurt to fill her up a bit?
I have a question now - really aimed at those of you with a bit older kids. I'm still feeding Izzy to sleep, but it is getting more and more of a challenge - it doesn't always work, and sometimes she wakes up as (or just after) I've put her down, and doesn't want more milk. So I'm sometimes having to get her to sleep in my arms, but without milk. All this is meaning that bedtime is taking longer and longer, so I'm having to go to bed later and later to fit in all the things I need to get done in the evenings.
I could really do with putting her down awake, but I'm not sure how to go about it. I know it will be a hard week or so to start with until she gets the hang of it, which I'm prepared for, but I'm not sure how to do it! Whenever she wakes up as I put her down she sits herself up, stands herself up, and screams until I pick her up and put her back on the boob again, so whenver I read all of the wording about controlled crying, where it says to go back in and calm baby down without picking up/feeding I'm not sure how it would work! Has anyone else taught an older baby to go to bed awake? What did you do? Help!Isabella Molly born 14th January 2009
