Hi all Archie is happy playing with his train set again so got a few mins yeh:j

Bruno - Have to say I sympathise with the early waking - we get it too and for the life of me I can't get LO to go back to sleep after 5.30am except by copious amounts of breast feeding which means no real sleep for me. I don't know what I'll do when he gives up as it's still the easiest way to get him off in the day, he just wont sleep without it.

glam, just a thought, but didnt you say jack has a lot of wind? a dream feed might not be the best thing in that case, cos if he takes any wind in while drinking it, it could cause him to be more restless than usual?

can i ask some advice please?
seth now only drinks 4 bottles in the day and only takes about 3oz each time, i have tried giving him smaller meals but this hasnt made any difference, and at night he now seems to want 2-3 feeds. at first i didnt mind cos he was getting the nutrition he needs, but not having a full nights sleep in 8 months is now really starting to take its toll :o i am considering trying to give him water when he wakes in the night to see if the theory of "if theres nothing to bother waking up for then he wont" works, but at the same time i dont want to deprive him of getting the nutrition he needs. he only drinks about 1-2oz at each feed through the night so i think he is probably just waking with a dry throat perhaps.
i have been putting scoops of formula in his food at each meal so he is getting the nutrition of another 6oz worth of milk in his food, but without the liquid. i make a cup filled with boiled water up each morning and spend hours through the day trying to get him to drink from it but as soon as he gets the taste of the water he spits the cup out, along with the water
he slept through for about a month when he was 3-4 months old, but that was when he was drinking 8-9oz bottles every hour and a half so there was no worry about nutrition then!!
    what would you do?

I might not be right here but if he is having formula without the fliuds might he be getting a bit dehydrated. In which case if he really wont drink water at the mo. maybe it would be ok to add a touch of apple juice to his water if it makes him drink it and still try with the water inbetween meals.

Archie wouldn't drink water when he was little (lol still only 2 ) but eventually he did start to like it although he does prefer juice. (which is why I have such a problem with my mil as she thinks I am being a cruel mother not letting him have juice when we visit - I try to stick to juice only at meal times and if we are at hers I now drink it or chuck it to stop her then giving it to him for the next hour after).

Pookie a nice padded bra seems to help me, but because we did \BF and then we slowly stopped its just a tingle rather than a full on nipple clench. Don't hold him to close to your boobs when feeding him a bottle either.

My boys helped me to tidy up and the living room is looking all spiffy :D very happy mummy :D Between them they cleaned the two glass panelled doors ans wiped down the wood panelling in the hall with polish so it smells all lovely out there.

So jealous my nearly 12 yr old is a lazy slob at the mo......

emlou, I'd give juice if he won't take water. More important that he drinks something than any concerns about giving juice. Hopefully it is just a phase.

tsstss, my boys are not usually so helpful, they are usually lazy cheeky little sods when I ask them to tidy so once I picked myself up off the floor in shock, I took full advantage!

Glam, I know, money would be good. I just need to do it...
  • I don't get how my boobs know I am feeding him
Cos I can cuddle him at other times and don't get that painful feeling, they must be very clever or psychic.

    afternoon all,
starnge few days. DH has been signed off work for 2 weeks with anxiety and depression. all to do with his sister and not dealing with her death. He had a really bad panic attack the other night (scared me silly) and has had another 1 just as he got into his car to come home from work and a slight one on Fri am. so i made him go to the DR. He's also prescribed him some anti-depressants (not too pleased bout that cos i think counselling should have been tried first). he's got to go back to GP in 2 weeks.

Kian doing well . Think he is training himself overnight as for past 3 nights, he's had bottle at 11-12 then slept till 4 or 5 when he's had bout 3oz of milk and fallen asleep. (he's been half asleep feeding as well) then sleeping till bout 7.30/8.30. Hopefully wont be too long till he sleeps through- at which point i prob wont as i;ll be scared that he's not woken up! lol!!

Jillie - Big hugs for your OH. Hopefully some time at home with you and Kian will help. The wait for counselling can be months so most GP's do start on a mild anti-depressant first but the tabs can take awhile to take effect.

:j Yay for Kian's sleeping - we could do with some of those sleeping vibes!

Jack has made up for his lack of sleep last night by sleeping in the pram from 12pm - 2pm, having a feed, going back to sleep & is still asleep now but not flat out. Apparently, the Baby Whisperer says that the more sleep they have during the day the more they will sleep at night because they are so relaxed and can get off to sleep easier. Not so sure about that one though - will see tonight!

    Thanks Glam,
GP, said he's to talk to me first and in 2 weeks see if the tabs are helping. if he stilll feels like he needs to talk to someone (i know it can be easier to talk to a stranger rather than a member of your family) he will refer him to counselling. think there is a thread on here bout dealing with depression so i;m going to see it there is any advice on things i can do to help him talk/feel better.

sleep vibes on their way for later tonight. :D

not sure either bout baby whisperer, but it kinda makes sense. i've started to put him down before he's fully asleep. sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt. but he needs to learn how to fall asleep without a bottle or soother.works more at times in the day. though now when i want to go to bed he does as well. and has fallen asleep on his own.

Well, I've always waited until he was fast asleep but recently have tried when he is just gone off and he always wakes up. I think I'm gonna knock it on the head until I have the book and have read up a bit first. He;s still asleep but am sure he'll be awake for a feed in a bit.

Oh elle - I made RR this morning and it looks really dark! I used milk chocolate so it must be the Cocoa - OH thinks it looks like it won't do his teeth any good (woohoo more for me!)
How many digestives do you put in? I think I put about 8 in so might not have put enough :o

Have you tried a really firm bra? Weezl said it worked for her and it's also what a MW recommended to me.

this is the M and S minimiser bra which I bought, I found it really helped, very supportive :)

hello all, sorry I've not been joining in the fun. We had our anniversary trip out to see eddie izzard last night and today has been food shopping, batch cooking and christmas pressie/decorations making (with salt dough)...

Getting a dull pain in the small of my back now though. Hoped I'd manage to get a bit past 20 weeks before the back pain kicked in :rotfl:
