  • No, my contract clearly states that we can be sent to England for any reasonable training courses needed to perform our role to industry standards, so I can't. Jasmine is old enough to know I will be home again and I can phone her at night and chat to her, Dylan will think mummy has disappeared :( I know this, cuz I was sent away for 4 or 5 days shortly after Jas was born too !! They time these bl00dy things well

At least I have 3 months to get used to the idea

Stupid contracts. Children need their parents. I know how hard it's been for mine with just me for the past few years, but very young children need their primary carer, which in your case, is you.

My hubby is a stay at home dad (not by personal choice) so he actually is the main carer when I go back to work, but they normally provide childcare facilities when the courses are longer than 2 days, but due to money cuts, it is a system they have withdrawn.

Sorry to hear that MM, if it makes you feel any better, I was always sent to England on training courses 4 times a year a week at a time. TBH I think it upset me more than any of the kids. It was one of my main reasons for going self employed.

    Awww MM, that's pants! :(

I've caved and sorted bits for tomorrow, even wrote out directions for finding the right dept in the hospital in case he's running late and the info desk people aren't there  All he needs to do is wake, change, dress and feed Rhys and get the wheels out the car - I ain't doing that at this time of night :p
  • Oh don't get me wrong, I go to England all the time for meetings, probably 7 or 8 times a year, but it is normally fly in and out the same day, or 1 night stay, and to be honest, Jasmine was old enough that she didnt mind cuz she normally got a holiday for a night at my mums !!

Its just because its very close to my return to work from mat leave and I wont even be really used to being back let alone leaving him !
I will be the last one trained though, everyone else is going Jan and Feb and they have left me till March to give me a month to settle back into work

Fair enough, I should have known better being male and a primary carer - slap MOTM - but even still - the younger one needs both parents, as do the parents need each other. As you say, Jasmine will survive albeit be sad you aren't there.

Was their nothing in the contract saying they WOULD provide childcare or did they word it as if they could get out of it, such as 'childcare will be provided at the companys discretion'?

    I do have 6 :D

Preston is not a million miles from us NW gang.
Could you turn it into a bit of a holiday and take the family with you?
The very best is sometimes what nature gives us for free.

No, it would mean taking Jas out of school, so couldnt take everyone. It is only a one off for it to be this long, its just very soon and I didnt want to go back anyway and this just makes me not want to go back at all !!

Oh but, good news is my reduced hours have been authorised but not sure if I can have a day every other week or if I will have to take a half day every week, but at least I can drop 4 hours.
