I have a whiney baby upstairs. Should I go up and try and feed her again?

LOL - I don't need lots of poor and clever Benjamins :rotfl:

I'm really not that bothered if you listen to me waffle or not - I feel like you are keeping me company anyway :p

Ooo - can we track Andrew past all the baby birth weights yet?

Do we have any that were 6lb 2oz??

Elle - do you have all the birth weights written down on your clipboard? ;)

jakesmummy - yay for waving babies! It's so cute isn't it! Benjamin nods in the right place when you ask him a question - it is such a great party trick!! Lots of 'Isn't mummy beautiful?' type questions ;)

I listen to you waffle ;)

    Nope, no clipboard :p

Rhys doesn't do waving, but when you ask him "Are you going to wave?" he lifts his hand up to stare at it (ya know, for a change ) and everyone at work thought he was waving.. Didn't correct them! ;):p

He just woke up.. lasted 45mins. Have been in to him once, was quiet but can hear moaning now. Going again, then wrapping more presents :)

Lol, I'm here and entirely manly ;) Haven't been much bothered about being male on the thread for quite a while though ;p sometimes the laydeez go on a man-hating hunt for a few hours and I just stay quiet :) most of the time they are very well-behaved though!

That reminds me, if this thread never gets closed we will never have the final thread statistics and SM will not get her gold medal :p

I love hearing about people's random ramblings on their lives (including SM's!). Everyone is different and it's just a sort of harmless innocent voyeurism when we get to hear about other people's circumstances and what's mattering to them right now, good or bad. I am an especial fan of baby pics though :o

Ahaaaaaaaaa - don't worry, you are safe, I am 100% manly too, I have offspring who will vouch for that and a lovely new lady. I am slightly envious of you having a boy to bring up though, not that i'd swap my girls. I've seen the man hate comments, but I refuse to not be a man :D

SM wants a gold medal? How will she go about getting that? Just posting alot?

I'm not a huge fan of baby pics. No idea why. I never liked sharing mine when they were babies. I do like good news though, for the parents as much as the kids. Not so much bought a new television, but news of pregnancies, new jobs and the like.

Right, I must start and try and catch up. Youngest 4 in bed, 13yo going to bed, but 15 and 16yo's still lurking and my much better looking, intelligent and nicer OH (that feels strange saying that) in the bath, so I hope to have time to catch up for an hour.*

    * subject to 15yo and 16yo suddenly wanting something :o

i agree with sami those TT cups are genius, you dont want any of that fancy valve rubbish when they're learning :)
it took seth over 2 months to "get" it, and even then it was the CM that cracked him by following him around for literally a whole day getting him to take sips :o i feel guilty that i couldnt get him to do it, but then she has had 4 kids of her own and been a CM for 19 years so i think she might have a bit more experience of it than me ;)

SS, reading your post does make me think twice though, each pregnancy is different so i shouldn't even be comparing with DS, i'd hate for anything to go wrong and there's now the added worry that i'm having a HB so it's an ambulance ride away if anything does happen.
Beenie, I was induced because of a known problem and with a family history of early/medicalised births. Please don't take my experience as being anything but that - worth exactly what you paid for it :)

If something happens on the spur of the moment either a student midwife will look after your DS and call around the list of phone numbers you've helpfully provided in advance (nobody's going to say they have to stay home and wash their hair when faced with a real emergency) or he'll go to a neighbour's or a schoolfriend's or in the worst worst case he'll come with you and the nurses will feed him toast and keep him updated. It'll be ok. :grouphug:

Thanks Tigs! What a cutie he is :) so serene!

The Outreach Midwives keep describing him as a very "chilled" baby
Have you bought him loads for christmas or are you being one of the sensible ones ??

Er ... I'd like to think we're sensible, but :rotfl: We've bought him stuff that we know he'll grow into - clothes and toys - over the next six months, so there are loads of presents, but many won't get used for a while yet. Biggest present is a new (i.e. not freecycled!) bouncer chair with an activity arch.
Ooo - can we track Andrew past all the baby birth weights yet?

Do we have any that were 6lb 2oz??

According to Feelie's graph, Andrew's overtaken Rhys' & Hugh's birthweights, and is almost up to Jack's & Tomos'.

  • OMG em - have just clocked your weightloss - :T:T go girl!

I need to do something about my weaning weight gain as I currently look like I could be going for a scan anytime soon :(

SM - hope you are okay hun.

MM - you are just lovely all round.

Bruno - agreed, who wants a baby who points anyway - he manages to poke me in the eye often enough as it is!!

Choppy - he has a cold, which means he is not sleeping very well. But it is nothing compared to the high-temp-proper-poorly-babies!!

Elle - I am gift wrapping too!! Well I was until I came back to the table to pick up gift tags!!!
...sorry, I didn't realise your clipboard was a secret ;)

Oooh, ooh, oooh. Meant to tell you something (though most of you won't be that interested ....) And it's an MSE thing :money:

The outreach midwives are talking about discharging Andrew from their care and handing over to the health visitors. Not a big deal, except that they take back the loaned hospital-grade double breastpump when they go .... leaving me with my single pump or facing a hefty rental bill for a double.

So today, we converted my Medela Swing into a double pump! Marley's suggestion - putting a Tpiece at the end of the short tube, and then attached two new tubes to run to two breast shields. We had to shorten the tube lengths to maintain good suction, and the unit has to be run at high-level suction now (as it's being split between two boobs), but it works!!!!! I actually got more out than I normally do with the hospital-grade pump!

So, they can discharge Andrew after New Year and I can carry on pumping :j :j :j :j

My dinky one is awesome, have I said that lately? ;):D

    He is, as are you.

Ta :) I don't know how much he weighs this week - the nurse forgot the scales on Monday :( But I'd hazard a guess at 11lb. *IF* we get up early enough, I might take him down to the SureStart centre on Thursday morning to see our HV and get him weighed then.

Wow, he's piling it on now, clever boy.

Well done on BFing so long :D xxx Thank you. Wish I could have gone longer. When I had all the problems in the beginning, I kept thinking "just get to 3 months", then I just kept on and on. I really liked the idea of BF in bed on Xmas morning. I know I'm sad :o

I'm gutted that I've been so excited about Christmas and now I'm looking at it as something just to get through.

This Xmas will be so special, regardless of where you spend it, because you will be with DH and Molly. Ignore your brother (who, and I know it's rude to be rude about someone I've never met, sounds like he is about Molly's age TBH) and concentrate on your new family unit. Easier said than done though, I know.

yes same cup, I got Chris's when I got the bookstart bag but not sure when it was  I've not been given one for Ed but they're quite cheap

Fabby, thank you Sami and Em. I got the first bookstart bag but only books and leaflets in it, no cups. I'll look out for one in Tesco or Boots though.

SM - night night. Hope you feel better tomorrow.

MOTM - I have no idea but I didn't know about it it until you just mentioned it!
