He works for an oil company that supplies kits and drill bits to the boats offshore (well that's what his department does lol). So unfortunaley they don't close for Xmas! He has put in for days off, the days between Xmas and New years, works out about 3 days or something, but then with weekends, it means he'd have 10days but they have told him they don't know if he can because they might be too busy.

He's the only person that can do that job you see and he should have an apprentice but doesn't because they have been struggling a bit since last year though it's picked back up.

They just gave him a pay rise (we think, though they haven't announced it) but that will be handy!

Buttons- I suspected an oil company with you being Aberdeen. Quite a lot of OH's friends work off shore.
Good news for payrise! OH still waiting for 2009 payrise! They are on an overtime ban at the moment and thinking of striking to get it.
I got 4% this year hee hee!

He actually worked for the council digging graves 2 years ago :rotfl: Kinda landed on his feet and found a much better job thankfully, and right before the crunch.

Overtime ban? Yep OH had that all this year too, though this month he's actually had some and has been milking it for what it's worth, even doing Saturdays! Bonus' all but stopped too. We were better off when he first started on a trainee salary, because we had the £700 bonus' and £150' safety bonus every 3 months + more tax credits. Hardly poor right now like but this OT will make a nice difference (though annoyingly works 2 months behind) must spoil Keira on her birthday in April. Take her away for a weekend, I like the thought of Eurodisney but I'm scared I'd get lost or something. Really am incapable.

Yey for pay rise and hiss boo hiss for your OHS work!

OH's bonus all stopped now too. Used to get a hamper at Christmas now its a measly 2o quid Tesco voucher! Hes paid weekly so any overtime comes the following Thursday! Yey!
Martin was on GMTV talking about a Euro disney deal. I'm sure you won't get lost lol

I noticed there was a deal on the grabbit board for £169 which is cheap but, once you factor in the cost of travelling there from here, the amount of money you'd spend there, and passports for me and Keira.....:( Edinburgh Zoo it is then!!

OH gets (and better!) get his £250 Xmas bonus (which is taxed, ) and a bottle of plonk! His is monthly. Should get it early this month though as it's paid every 25th of the month teehee

They used to give turkeys out at our work (decades ago) but now we get vouchers. Two companies merged together, ours got £20 and the other got £30, so this year we've all got £25... nice for us, but they're moaning!

Euro disney is good if you're travelling from London. I'd need to fly from Edinburgh if I was going tho. Went on a coach to France wi the school BOOORRRIIINNNNGGGG! Felt like it took a week!
