  • hi mums! am sneaking over prematurely from the pregnancy club and fishing for tips on surviving being overdue, not so much tips on getting things going but just to keep sane! I've had a very medicalised (imo) pregnancy and despite panics about early delivery around 32 weeks, am now 40+8 and have an induction booked for Monday but am very frightened that this is going to go very medical and prolonged and I'll end up having a cs and I am getting more and more anxious. thank you for listening x

The best live act I have even seen is Take That. Not the recent stadium tour which was good, but the Beautiful World tour before that. I was 5 rows from the front and watching Gary Barlow sit at the piano and sign a live solo was an amazing experience! I've yet to ever see someone else sing exactly the same as they sound recorded. And he wasn't miming!!!

Other than that I've had some fantastic nights out pogoing about to someone singing 'Ace of Spades' well out of tune, happy times!!

See, this just goes to prove that what one person considers good, another doesn't. All down to taste, but for me Gary Barlow has an incredibly boring voice. I've never understood Take That's success as I really don't rate them at all. I can understand Westlife, when not doing cheesy cover versions, as they have less boring voices, but Take That...nope, don't get it. They are very British, which explains why they never cracked the biggest market of all

You mentioned George Michael and Wham earlier.....another voice that bores me to sleep.

Nobody understand my music either, so that's life :o I guess we can't all be the same :D
right I am probably just being really hormonal, but I just phoned work to tell them I wouldnt be out tomorrow night for staff do cuz Dylan was in hospital and I wouldnt feel right leaving him (and I CBA to go) and they just said OK, and didnt even ask how Dylan was !!

Don't take it personally. Many people just don't think to ask.

Always, if you are very worried why not put of induction? (assuming you and baby are ok) I supose otherwise the best thing is to do everything you can to start things off.
    I'm sorry I'm rubbish I have no experience :o

  • Hi always :)
try not to worry, the more relaxed you are about it, the easier you will find it, no matter what the outcome, and if you end up with a cs, who cares, you will have your baby and thats all that matters :)
Keep yourself busy is the best advise I can say for keeping sane, I went 11 days over with my DD and for the last week I rearranged all of my photo albums into as good a date order as I could !!

Always, I imagine it's no good telling you not to be anxious, but what I do want to say is that even if it gets extremely medicalised and you have a CS, after it you have a lovely baby. That exact thing happened to me, and it makes me incredibly sad to think I didn't get to give birth and that it all happened to me rather than I did it - but it was what was needed to get the monster out and she is wonderful. It doesn't make up for it, but it goes a long way.

Just remember to have a poop before you go and take some snacks ;)

SS - rmac had that spin explore thing, from what I remember it didn't last very long as LO was soon rolling/crawling off discovering the world (although it is much cheaper than a jumperoo)

    Passports have arrived! :j

Thanks Sami - it's mostly to keep her entertained [STRIKE]somewhere where she isn't directly on my parents' doggy carpet[/STRIKE]. If she likes it we'll bring it back here and sell it when she's done with it, if not we'll ebay it from the UK.

Cheapest so far is Tesco Direct(£24.47) but out of stock. Then Argos (£24.49) and out of stock for delivery but possibly in the shops (not available near my parents). Might have to be Amazon after all
Yup - Amazon's cheapest immediate option when delivery is taken into account.

Oh, and the best gig I ever saw was a tie: Stone Roses at the Royal Court in Liverpool, and Smashing Pumpkins at the MEN Arena in Manchester. The SP gig was insane, the safety barrier moved forward about a metre and a half under the weight of people, and I had myself lifted out after seeing the security guys' faces - they were plainly terrified. A girl was crushed at the Belfast gig a few nights after. But the performance was incredible.

I also had tickets to see Nirvana in April 1994, but when the tour was cancelled returned my ticket for cash rather than holding onto it and selling it once Kurt Cobain's ghouls were buying everything related to his death, including tickets from The Tour That Never Was.

    What boogers, MM!!

Hi, you might remember that my induction was booked for term+14 but I actually went into natural labour at T+13 and he arrived early hours of T+14, he clearly wanted to come on that day:confused:

I was soooo anxious towards the end, couldn't sleep or anything. I had it in my head that the longer I went over the more chance of something going wrong. Totally daft of me but I really was going crazy with the waiting.

You could wait for as long as 14 over before going for induction but TBH I wouldn't, just go on Monday with an open mind.
I was induced at 38 weeks with 1st pregnancy and everything birth wise ran smooth. No intervention so its not a foregone conclusion that something will go wrong. Try not too worry
Out on a limb here but I've heard of more interventions with Epidural than with induction (runs for cover...)
