Vic, you do what you feel is right for your baby, if they want to get upset about it, tell them to !!!! off.

Personally I'm not that bothered with colds, I'd just let the person know to stay away from the baby, but Amber is number 3 and DS2 has a cough right through the winter anyway so I'm a bit desensitised to it. But I do always ask how other people feel. For example, my friend had her lo today and I won't visit because I have a cold.

The point is, even though I would do some things different, your ways are in no way wrong, and I'd never fall out over it. Unless it was sending a 3yr old to the shop at 8pm to get a 2lt bottle of coke or something!
  • Thanks for your support guys - I'm glad it's not just me having gone completely over the top;)

TBH my in-laws are a bit of a nightmare anyway and MIL is very highly strung - I don't like falling out with people so usually try and make excuses for them or give in on things that aren't really important for a quiet life. Now I have DS to consider though I think they are going to get a bit of a shock:D

Beenie- I am so pleased you have found a solution and the student MW sounds lovely. Should we start sending labour vibes to you yet?

    No!!!

:rotfl: I need to do some washing and mop the floors and hoover the stairs and tidy DS bedroom and clean the bathroom and toilet and sort out some old sheets and the old duvet for my bed.

THEN i'll have the vibes :rotfl: Think i'll start thinking about having this baby by tomorrow night, then i won't miss the X Factor final LOL

Beenie - tell them you are very grateful of help and remind them that although you'll be at home you could still do with some help as won't be up to much in terms of dog walking, looking after DS.
Also you haven't compromised, there is plenty evidence to suggest that a low risk multi para like yourself is actually safer birthing at home  :D

Beenie - I was booked in for a home birth but had complications so had to have a hospital birth. The midwife came out and did a home visit and needed to have a look and see how high our bed was, so they could work out the best position for me and them as they have to think of their backs and stuff while they are busy.

She had a look in the bathroom for handwashing and escorting me if I needed to use the loo and needed help, and she wanted to know where the kettle was and if we had plenty of tea bags in :rotfl:

Vic - I would have been the same. It's baby's first Christmas and you want it to be special and not ruined because he's full of snot and miserable. I would ignore the letter and see if you can make arrangements once OH's brother is better.
Here I go again on my own....

    Hello ladies

I'm hoping you won't mind if I join you. I have been reading the pregnancy thread since my DS was conceived (although never really joined in as I had a few problems during the pregnancy and was afraid of jinxing things - silly I know:rolleyes:). I've been keeping up with this thread on and off since DS was born and he's now nearly 8 weeks so I'm thinking its time to join in;)

I would be interested to know your views on whether you think we are being completely unreasonable?

    Vic

Helloo :) Do we get to see piccies of your lo?! I don't think you are being unreasonable. 8 weeks is still very little, and you don't want to be dealing with a snotty baby, no way!

How are you getting on other than your in laws? Have you got smiles yet?

Blimey Beanie - with that list you won't need labour vibes, you will start things off nicely doing all that lot :rotfl:.

Oh, I forgot to say - lots of tongue chewing today, so I'm thinking those teeth are rumbling again. No grumpiness yet, but I have the calpol and calprofen at the ready just in case!

I'm going to meet one of my mummy friends tomorrow - she texted me after we had coffee today to apologise for being a bit distant, then confessed that she is pregnant again (shhhh, it's a secret, but seeing as you aren't real ;)) . She's a bit confused about it (not sure if she is happy or not and a bit scared I think!) so we're going to have a coffee and a chat :). I was going to have a housework day, but never mind, it will all still be there when I get home.

    Evening all :)

vicstar, welcome! I'd have done the same as you did :)

Becles, *hugs* How did the boys take the news? :(

Beenie, :T for home birth :) Just need to sort the name now.. ;)

We've got two walls of paper stripped and I've phoned the builder to ask him to fit in plastering sometime, before Christmas preferably ;) Honestly reckon we'll be painting the room on Boxing Day but it'll be worth it! :p

OH got home late and has got work to do at home tonight too :( He's asleep on the sofa right now so looks like I'm in charge of tea.. hmmm.. Can't even drive to Maccys! :o Got to tidy up quietly around him now..

Ooh, that is much more exciting than a housework day! Do you think it will make you broody? :p

    They're sad but OK.

We were planning on going to the library tonight and they still wanted to go. It's just a little library in the next village staffed by two old ladies who always fuss over the children, so they always enjoy going. I think that took their minds off it.

AM I keep forgetting. Did you find an R4 card? And my fairies have got a little pile of old DS games, the cartridge ones. DD now has a DSi and they don't have a cartridge hole. There's some girlie ones, but mostly unisex and suitable for little ones.
PM the faries if Aston would like them.
I've PM'd you, thanks hun your a star xx
