Maybe just start with walking...early in the morning if poss..that is when I seem to have the most energy, you could get a pedometer to track how many steps you are doing a day0 -
Feeling bleh.
Am I the only person on planet earth who doesent excercise?
Struggling at the ,mo big time but I need & must do this for my m,obility
I can't exercise at the moment with my knackered knee (got the MRI results on Friday - inconculsive - GRRR!) and I only used to do a bit of walking and pilates and weights before, but now I am CRAVING exercise, I can see the cleveland hills from the top floor of my house, and I am looking with longing wanting to climb them. If I get fixed anytime soon I am going to spend every weekend I can this summer scrambling the hills in the lake district. Going back to the doctors today and I'm giving him the name of the consultant I want to be refered to, this is 3 months now and no diagnosis, its taking the mick.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Beanie, it's not just you. I used to be a gym 3 times a week girl, regular as clockwork. I was even starting to run in the treadmill, non-stop for more than 15 mins at a time, then uphill power walking, close to 8km on the bike on high resistance in under 10 mins, and I was out-lifting some of the guys on the weights machines. Then the aircon in the gym broke, but for months on end, in the middle of summer, and I felt faint every session with the heat, so stopped going. It took so long to fix the aircon, that I cancelled my membership. Now my financial situation is so bad I can't afford to go, the weight piled back on, and my fitness levels have dwindled. My OH still goes to the gym 3 times a week, but he can get in for a £1 as part of the jobseekers scheme they have there, but I can't be included in that.
Eric, I love that Sandstorm track, but Wesley Snipes really got out of bed on the wrong side that day, didn't he? How cranky can you get, but those clubbers were a bit odd I'll admit!
Right, well I've had a really bad weekend for food. I've been comfort eating, and I don't exactly know why, but I'm aware I've been doing it. I think it's a combination of things, but mainly having lots on my mind, emotional stuff re. one of my sons, who I'm worried is reverting back to old (bad) ways & acting out of character again, Sat. would have been my husband's 43rd birthday, so we visited him yesterday with some flowers, and only my youngest child really seemed to have remembered it was mothering Sunday, and got a card and pressie. I'm not sure if I'm a bad person for feeling fed up about that, and being selfish. They're kids, so should they put in much effort? As my OH pointed out, the eldest turns 18 next week, the 2nd eldest is 16 and both have p/t jobs with more disposable income available than we do, so they should have thought to do something. It's often the same way with us mums I think, we tend to organise everyone else's special days, but because we don't organise our own, no one else does. Hey ho, it's done and dusted now... the shops being full of pretty mother's day stuff doesn't help.
Planning to start today as Day 1 again, and put my best food forward. The sun is shining, so I'm going to get outside more too this week. The forecast says that Thursday may even be up to 14 degrees! Haven't seen double figures since last October here. One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing
Be nice to your children, they'll choose your care home0 -

Beanie, it must be so tough for you with the medical considerations
What sort of exercises are you allowed to do, maybe we could suggest some ideas to make them more appealing for you?

Having said that, I know only to well the guilt and sense of inadequacy medical conditions can leave you with. Totaly ridiculous to ourselves of course, but I have spent the weekend beating myself up for not geting on with things. Saturday just passed in a stupor quite frankly and i felt so useless for it. And I know I am being unfair to myself. The quanty of knackering drugs I had to take the day before casued it.
I feel a drip too beanie - there are days i can do more but others I am so wiped. Sometimes having a good cry does help frankly.
Is there any small thing you can achieve today that will make you feel a little better?
Sary - Permission to be a bit cross with your 3 sons please! The oldest 2 should definitely know better. And well done your youngest:T. Sorry things a bit stressful for you at the mo. You offer such great support to others on here and some very wise and insiteful advice. And you are managing on very little money to still bring up and make a home for your family.
Eric - sounds like this week is going to be a toughie with out SWMBO: are you going to break your next goals dwon to a day at a time this week? How much do you need to lose before your scales start recording your details?
Dinah - knees are really tricky and you are right to go know for a proper diagnosis. My emplyer had a lot of probs and an op in the end and then was able to slowly buid up the exercise again, but it took ages to get proper treament.
QT well done on completing the 5 day into. Now don't go mad. Harcombe will only work if you stick to phase 2 properly or it WILL all go back on!
Honey - well done on the cycling (this is 'ordinary cycling isn't it - to work.) The best sort of exercise is that incorporated into normal life:T
We spent mothers day in a hospice looking after someone elses mother. Today, we are taking OH's parents out for a cream tea, for mothers day, to a lovely countryside tea room, so no promises on the food front as they are the best scones in christendom.I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -

was always going to be a difficult weekend
one of the things I have found when I am in my dark place that helps (im Bi Polar surprise surprise) Is to break up the routine, go somewhere you would never normally go, be it a local beach, garden centre, some local place of historical interest, any where out of your comfort zone where you cant comfort eat.
as for kids ours is 27/28 and she has only just realised there are other people in the world and started to grow up :eek:0 -

It will be about 20 weeks before I can use the super duper scales, if i keep up steady progress. My main scales where never an issue since there accurate to +/- 0.1 lb to 750lbs ... over kill even for me
I'm a creature of habit so planing meals is not an issue, the loneliness may put me in my dark place... I may play lord of the rings online again for a week, I have a minstrel that needs to get from level 60 - 70, there a fantastic time-sink if you don't graze whilst playing ..0 -

the first 2-3 weeks are the worst its normally just a slog, but once you start getting fitter you body produces lots of lovely hormones when you exercise for extended periods that make you feel great and they have no calories0
