Harcombe diet books arrived this morning. Going to settle down to read them. Quick question though, what can you drink on the diet?!

on phase 1 (5 days) you can drink water , fizzy water , black decaff tea, black decaff coffee.

Then on phase 2 , you can have white tea and coffee .....

ie: skimmed milk with carb meals
    fat milk with fat meals.

    good luck!

    Hi everyone!

Congrats on the good results, well done KPC for SOTW! :T

Eric, I'm a bit of a data fiend myself so I like your work ;)! The trouble I have when I create too much of a calorie deficit, is that my body is quick to adapt and my metabolic rate suffers, so effectively my 'maintenance' level drops significantly which reduces the deficit. Result = lower weight loss than I'd expect for the effort that's gone in. I'm now very careful about not reducing it too much: 15% under 'theoretical maintenance' is as low as I'll go (20% max if I had more to lose).

The mistake I used to make was starting with the BMR calculation (the age/weight/height one) as the 'absolute' number, when it isn't absolute, it's variable by quite a lot. Now I take my body fat % result (actual) as the starting number and use that along with calorie intake (actual) to calibrate my exercise calories, estimate BMR etc and go from there. If that makes sense?! :rotfl:

Sorry to all the non-data minded people... As you were... :p

yep it does, In about 70 lbs I will be able to use my new scales (rather than have them say OMFG get off) and calc actual body muscle and then work out what i need from there accurately rather than using guesswork or standard tables like BMI (which amounts to guess work lol)

at the moment I can only guestimate 1500 seamed like a reasonable bench mark and I can only judge it by how I feel, I have been feeling drained for the first time in the last 2 days (i had a mental session on the treadmill at 10 degrees :p) so I will up my daily amount to 1600 (by adding a nana to breakfast yum :) plus I have a couple of big meals this weekend which hopefully will bring me back into status

Kpc: Hahaha!! never thought of that!! I'll be off to barry for my holidays now

Dinah: crickey, how much do you wanna try and do all at once!! thats hardcore, youre probably stressed out, I know I would be!

Ohh and on the whole engagement thing, rose at age concern let me try on her engagement ring today. So to cut a story short i said to matt do you think we will get engaged this year and he said yes!! Although to be honest i dunno how hes going to manage it but there we go.

    So questions re gift lists:

What would make you chose to have a gift list with one deparment store over another?

Would the perks influence your decision?

would you rather have the holiday option?

Do civil ceremony people have guest lists? or do you think that given the fact thats its kind of a new thing that they are all getting on a but and have housy stuff anyway.

i cant think of anything else on the top of my head!

Vix - to help with your question re. the gift lists. I'm not engaged, but have been before. I think most couples live together prior to marrying, and getting engaged, so a civil partnership is just the same, it's just that same sex cannot be officially 'married'. The intention and commitment put into them, I would say, is just the same for the couple concerned.

To influence me to have a gift list with a certain store would be the ease of use for family/friends. How accessible it was via the internet, was there a helpline or phone number to call with queries, giftwrapping service, etc. I've just had a look at the Debenhams site, and they offer the option of adding £ to a giftcard or a honeymoon fund already.

Who is the main competitor? I've checked John Lewis' site, and their's isn't nearly as easy or accessible with info. However, they do offer items such as wedding confectionery (like favours), stationery such as invites, and they offer wedding insurance. I think that if the package offered is as comprehensive as possible, and has great attention to detail, therefore offering the reassurance of managing it properly, taking the pressure off the bride & groom. To gain more take-up of the service, the business needs to get it's service availability 'out there'. That means wedding fayres, advertising, linking in with other services, such as photographers, holiday companies (for honeymoons), and getting the wedding dress/suit depts. to help promote the service, or even having a small desk/information stand in that area of the store, or near to the entrance to it. Targetted advertising near to Town Halls, Churches, Stately Homes offering complete wedding services. More and more people are choosing not to marry in church, but at a beautiful venue instead.

Completely off topic, but I am now going to cook tea, which involves food, and I'm having curry. Not necessarily a fab food choice, but it's gotta be a 'ping' dinner tonight, as no time to prepare.
One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing

    Vix~great answer from SaryClary.
Wedding magazines are another place to advertise.Wedding fayres are also very big buisiness these days too.
Inf;luenced also by whether shop had type of things I want to go on WL & also cost.
I would doubt perks would influence me one way or another TBH.

I know that a civil partnership is the same relationship, what im asking is could theyre be a way of marketing guest lists exclusively to them instead of the normal woman man scenario.

Debenhams do all of the above, hense why im gunna try the civil partnership route. I need RAPH to come back!!!
