You are right the switch has to come from within, no amount of looking around for help and support understanding and patience it will come when it is ready, the last time I lost it I caught myself with handfuls of biscuits (started with 1/2 a biscuit just to get the taste and be good but it escalated) I sat down and so wanted to say to OH do something about me I am sitting here with enough biscuits to give out to all of us and knowingly doing it so stop me, I never said anything to him because I know as well as we all do that whatever OH said it would have not made a bit of difference, sary believe what OH says, the compliments, they bring a smile to your face when you are alone wondering thinking looking at yourself and not being able to find anything worthwhile, sary why don't you see if any hairdressers near you do free hair cuts as many around here to for the trainees and also sometimes colour is free or for a minimal charge so they can practice?
Money stops me from looking good in clothes new ones freshly bought, it fills me with resentment and what is the point to all the weight loss if all I end up wearing is this horrible fitting, yucky looking stuff? Then I go and put my black trousers on....

I know it is hard to get the frame of mind, I must say I am having a massive struggle at the mo because I tried to be kind to myself and loose the 10lb slowly like missy said so gave myself a 6 week period before Valentines day to loose it, reasonable time frame you would say, the scales say STS this week so no way is the weight coming off by sunday to meet the mental target I have set for myself and therefore that makes me feel a failure and what is the point? When the mind switches like that the first thing that comes to mind is food, might as well eat it but then I don't because I know I am a 1lb a day gainer so that would only make me go backwards and further away from the loss so no point.

I have made OH a MSE hamper with silly bits and pieces in it, looks great must say, we are going out for a carvery and that was the deadline and I will still eat on sunday because for one day without having to think about cals and food makes a lovely change whatever the food ends up to be:D

Mazza - glad you had a good time on your date :D Totally buy your wanting to enjoy yourself without commitment thing, sometimes that's all you need, you go girl!

victory - glad I'm not the only one waiting for car boot season to restart! I've been trying all year to keep to a "one in - one out" policy when clothes shopping, so far so good as I haven't had much money to spare for new gear, but most of the clothing collection bags we get through our door are for the commercial companies and not charities, so on a point of principle I ignore them and would rather wait for a proper charity bag to fill. Also, if - as instructed - I leave the empty bag out, why doesn't it ever get picked up and I end up throwing it away??

Thanks everyone for the good wishes about MIL. I raided Waitrose in the end and bought lots of nice chicken, salads, quiches, pork pies etc and seafood as well as some puddings (apple tart, lemon cheesecake and fresh fruit salad), took it all along and we had a lovely afternoon with her. I filled the table up with goodies and everyone sat around picking all afternoon, just taking their time scoffing and enjoying (the diet took a holiday for the day but it was all in a good cause I felt! Compensated by not having any dinner/supper when we got home!). MIL ate very well all things considered and some of the food was things she'd never tried before (like an onion and goats cheese tart) so it was fantastic to see her reactions and how much she enjoyed trying new things. We left the remainder behind for them so they can finish up over the next few days if they like. MIL is looking pale and thin but otherwise was almost her old self, full of laughter and giggles, determined to have a good time and enjoy her grandkids, but she did get tired very quickly. We're praying that the chemo continues to work and that she continues to improve but I feel that this is gong to be a long haul for her. However, she is one determined lady, she isn't going down without a fight - what an inspiration! Love her to bits. :A

Had a job interview today which I think went well but it was hard to tell (not the "big job" I've done plenty of other posts about, this is a completely new one). The hiring manager was a bit po-faced and didn't give much away - I hate it when I can't read people!! Grr!!

OH is out tomorrow night so I only have to cook for DD, will just have a light snack myself which I hope will be rewarded on the scales Weds morning! I have a 1500 word essay to finish by Thursday which I've been drafting for a couple of days now but just cant seem to get cracking on writing properly; so tomorrow night after the kids are in bed I will have a glass of wine and just start writing, then edit in the cold light of day on Weds - well it's worked for me before!!:D

  • don't throw the charity shop bag aware hezza-use it as a bin bag,I do. I never use the ones through the door and we get one most weeks.
Good to hear about your M-i-L.

kpc,mazza,sary- this is the worst time of year though too on top of everything else. I wonder what magically clicks that switch?
I see to be doing better myself since last Monday, but it is way too early to be congratulating myself for being back on the wagon. Definitely a day at a time job. For me,the thought of spring not too far away is helping (and the essential removal of extra jumpers:eek:).
Sary-as Victory suggests, any colleges near you running hairdressing courses? It's horrible feeling a mess-a feeling I know well. The differnce ahaircut makes is amazing. My hair is fine and very straight so looks like a wet weekend very easily. I have the reverse Samson effect-a visit to hair dresser to restore my short bob and I feel the energy flood my bones.(No my OH isn't called bob).

Bought the ingredients to make OH home made chocs for valentines. not made them before though...

Sary - good luck with the tribunal. All sounds stressful. Glad at least you are enjoying the time together.

Victory - - chucking other peoples favourite clothes while they are not looking: are you saving for their long term therapy:rotfl:
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

Victory, I like your style girl!! Nice way to have a clear out.

BB - I always feel better after a haircut too. Colour at home myself as i'm just covering the greys and not for a fashion statement, and even though I only get a trim, and get it thinned out (opposite of you, mega thick and curly) it makes me feel so much better.

Sary - Good luck with the appeal babes. Thoughts are with you.

Hezza- Hope it's good news for you on the job front!!!

I really need to get my finger out and start job hunting. I despise the job that I do, but really need to work more hours, which just aren't available at this time of year. Plenty at end of the year but not at beginning. Just trying to find something that fits around school hours that's the problem.

KPC: sounds like everything is mounting up. I had a god awful week last week, its a wonder poor matt didnt walk out on me cos if it was the other way round i think i would have! Im less tolerant though. Feb is a rubbishy month, its cold, wet, damp and generally miserable. Spring is looming though, i could tell because the ducks are going mad :p

Would love more hours Vix. 24 hours is just enough to cover the bills. Am on 9-2 all week too, so there goes my afternoon nap. Grrrr

Kpc - sorry you are so down. Try to remember how it felt before when you were eating healthily. Maybe instead of thinking about ‘going without’ you can put a positive spin on it? Otherwise, just try not to do too much damage and wait for your mood to change. If it’s any comfort I can relate to most of what you say in your post, and it seems as if so can everyone else. It's February - maybe we'll all feel better in March?

Well done Vix for applying for the jobs– sounds as if your hormones are very balanced now! You seem to be your usual self again.

Oh PepPop I hope everyone is feeling better now. What a worry for you. And what a cheek to bring a vomit-ridden child to work. We say 48 hours after the last episode of sickness before children can come back to school .... the idea being that they stay at home with their germs, NOT that their parents take them to work.

You've got a great relationship withyour MiL Hezza. What a great DiL you are.

And now, on the basis that it is February, I'm cold and tired and it's still bl**dy Monday .... I'm going off to eat a cake.
