  • Congrats Lois Great work.

I need to very strict foodwise this week as I'm unable to exercise due to a very badly sprained(?) ankle. I landed on the base of the netball post in a game yesterday and have an incredibly swollen left ankle that I can hardly put any weight on. Crossing my fingers for a no exercise loss :rotfl:

The whole uni thing disgusts me, how its it a good thing to have young people start life massively in debt ...

The main thing is not to borrow money, if you cant afford it don't spend it, vastly easier to type than to do in reality ..

I hear you, but then again alot of students don't exactly spend all of this on accomodation, books and trips to whs!! Its more clothes, booze and more booze that over 3 years amounts to alot. I was lucky my parents paid for me to go, but i didnt move away and i worked to pay for drinking.

What disgusts me more about uni is the fact that alcohol is like God and it really fuels the binge drinking thing. Oh and the fact that all the rentals round here are geared to the students.

I need a good calorie list site, I'm after the cals per 100g for lean sirloin steak (zero edge fat). All I keep finding are American sites with broiled whar ever the he'll that is.....

Can't help with the calorie site but broiled is grilled I believe.

i generally agree with you, but think alot of it is to do with your mentality and reasons for being there. im completely self funded at uni, and my intention here is to work for a good degree and use it for my own good. there are SO many kids here who are just here for kicks and their parents pay for EVERYTHING, fair enough some rent, or help out with tution fees etc. (my dad often says he wishes he could do that) but for everything, they jst dont have a clue about money and how to manage it. one of my housemate literally shouts down the phone to his parents to give hime more money, despite spending over £500 in two weeks !!!!! hes in this 4th year (BUT failed the previous 3 years on various other courses at other unis!!) an on the party side of things, i def do that, but only when i know i can afford it. i think the bigger issue of where the debt comes from is the fact you have to pay £3500 for a poor service, all enforced by the very people who had free schooling.
shift the bulge! - 54lb lost so far :j .....alot more to go......

    Hiya all,

Hope everyone is good...congrats on coming 3rd place Lois Lane, that is great...Missy your exercise is amazing I can just about walk to the bus stop...without being shattered.

Eric-this website seems good and it has the different about of fats on there, so you can look at 0% fat and see what it is, seems like it is 180-200 cals per 100g

Victory- more hours, more money so it is all good, I hope it all works out!

Re: the whole debt/uni thing, I graduated in 2008 and I don't think I have shifted much of the c.£24k debt I accrued, I did not even spend the money binge drinking etc, but mostly on rent and books and survival...many books as I did law. I also worked on weekend for most of the 4 years I was there. I didn't get much support from my parents, so I did it all myself, it is quite sad as I still haven't got my graduate job, but I kno it will all turn around, I guess people are different as I do kno many that didn't value money at all as it wasn't them paying for it.

Oooh yea and the reason for my post, I lost 0.5lb this week, I thought I would have put on the way I have been eating, plus it was TOTM so I will be graceful to myself.

    Have a great day all

    QT :)

The money i paid for my course wasnt worth it either! Im glad i dont have any debt because i feel quite negatively about my course as it is, without having x amount of debt to deal with aswell. I suppose im probably a good example of when thick people shouldnt be allowed to get a degree because really im mainly good for lowish level work and nothing high level like. If less people like me went to uni there would be more money around for really intelligent people to go.

My hormones are once again all over the place. The other day i stormed off at dinner twice, wacking my chair across the room over onion rings :/ I feel so sorry for matt who has to put up with me!

Victory: Good news! 3 days a week is nice. Mon wed and fri would be good.

BB: wheres the purple gone? It doesnt feel right with no purple, like a limb is missing or something!
  • Hi everyone

I have been to the doctors this morning and I have got to go for blood tests for diabeties, colesterol etc..... But it seems they do not offer help/ guidence towards loosing weight. He advised I joined SW/ WW or brought the paul mcKenna book. So not really all that helpful :( Lucky I have you wonderful diet people to help me instead :D

Lois - well done on 3rd place I think you should be very proud of yourself

Victory, and Hezza you both made me smile with your bread comments I can hear it calling me :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

BB - when you have a spare 10 minutes you can come and do some shelves for me as my computer room is looking a mess ;)
