Doesn't work in our canteen - most of it's loaded with cheese - and occasionally they'll have a tomato and red pepper pasta - which is great until you see all the grease left on the plate when you've finished eating.

The salads are covered in mayo as are the sandwiches, and the soup is generally creamy.

I'm going to have to try to stick to my cuppa soups which are nowhere near as nice as the canteen soup :o
  • okay day sat, not really good day sun, but I did wlk u[p to the veg plot so thats somethng. I find it very easy to stay on track during the week - it's the weekends that floor me. Maybe I need to get a sewing project started, that usually stops me eating. Snow all gone here now - so the wreckage of the back garden is now visible again!

Morning:D went shopping yesterday and in a rush so looked at Tesco sandwiches one was 500 calories:eek: it was cheese on white bread but 500 cals:eek: anyway did not have that and had one from Sainsburys for 265 cals, be careful of ready made sandwiches that is for sure:rolleyes:

bb a fridge is not a fridge without hummus in it:rotfl: I looked at the falafal meatballs in aldi on saturday but we both put them back because they were 19.7g of fat:eek: did not realise they were that much, OH loved them in Germany but even he was not going to have them.

Got another M&S fuller for longer meal this evening, singapore noodles sounds lovely does not look much but hey something to look forward to :D

Got some lovely underwear from Debenhams finally reduced to £1.20 each piece, see it is all about the waiting, wait long enough and they reduce it to a very pleasing price and the bra was £20 to £8 nearly put it back but then went to the cash desk and it came up as £4.80 so well chuffed:D OH said I should have got 2 for that price but never thought of it:D I am still waiting for the duvet cover to be reduced more than 20% off it has only been nearly 18 months since I looked at it and so wanted it but refuse to pay £65 for a duvet cover:rolleyes:

    Morning all,
The wine tasting evening was rather pleasant after all. I did try the wine, and discovered that I have a good 'nose' for the bouquet, however, it all still tasted like nail polish remover to me.... even the Bollinger champagne I'm sorry to say. It was a very posh place, that had bottles of whiskey for sale behind the counter for about £140!! I could get a holiday for that! (maybe not all inclusive, but...)

The ironic thing is that I only drank 1 light beer all night, poured my wine back in the spittoon (none of us used it to spit), and ended up dehydrated! We were also starving hungry afterwards, and did the bad thing of eating junk food at gone 11.30pm. Ah well, it's a rare thing for me, so I won't beat myself up about it too much.

BB - I bought my falafels from Farmfoods for £1, I think there must have been about 16 or so in the box, and I put mine in the oven for about 15 mins, no oil, and they are delicious. I ate them again last night with a baked potato, and it was just the loveliest meal. I'm looking for a good h/m recipe to make my own, so once I've tried some out, I'll let you know how they go. I'd try baking them, rather than frying them BB, perhaps just a spray of oil, or oil the baking tray, and 'shuffle' them around on that? I tried hummus on Saturday evening, as it was a dip beside some dried parsnip chips. I wasn't won over. I preferred the yogurt & chive one.

Missy - thanks for recommending the buff. I'll save up and treat myself to one. I have to admit that I suspected it might be something a bit rude, before I clicked on the link! Just my dirty mind.

Re. the lack of iron. I struggled to take iron tablets, because they had the reverse effect on my bowels as most people suffer with (I certainly didn't struggle to go)! My doctor recommended I try a product called Spatone, which was liquid sachets of your daily iron supplement, and I mixed them in with fresh orange juice to take them. They do taste like rusty water if you don't mix them with something, but so much kinder on my insides, and my iron levels went up nice and quickly. I took it during my pregnancies with no problems, and bought it from Boots. Here's what it is: http://www.nelsonsnaturalworld.com/en-gb/uk/our-brands/spatone/

So, off out again for the day today. OH is going over to Warwickshire to collect some bike bits, so I'm going along for the ride, and to keep him company. Have a good day all.
One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing

Thanks Lois, FFM and sary I will take what you said into account, although their is no chance of me eating liver, lol. I did a multivitamin tablet today, that has 100% of RDA for iron, it had been in my cupboard for nearly a year unopened (don't worry it was still in date) however I don't think I will take it again, it was massive, and I have thing about big tablets.

I did buy spinach and dried apricots at the supermarket this weekend, with loads of other veg, so that should be sufficient. I also skipped on saturday (100 skips) and sunday (200 skips) missy, which is not much but it is something.. :-)

Have a great monday everyone, I am planning to go to this military fitness thing tonight, so I will let you know how it goes...

Maybe I need to get a sewing project started, that usually stops me eating.

A friend of a friend did something similar to keep himself occupied so he didn't think about food. He's now starting to sell his handmade hats, so could be a nice little earner too! :D

Sary if you do buy one have a look on ebay, I got all mine quite a bit cheaper on there. I daren't look to see actual prices, or I'll end up buying more, I love them :o.

QT2006 well done on the skipping! :j I never thought to count actual skips, that could be fun! I've always done it in total minutes, but I also try to skip continuously through a song if I've got my mp3 player on (i.e. without getting tangled and having to restart!) I wonder if my pedometer would do the skip counting for me...? Enjoy your workout tonight, look forward to hearing about it!

All's fine here, intake & exercise are on track as per plan. I don't think I've lost any of the 1kg body fat, early days yet though :) Need to get the cycling kms up again so I don't fall behind with my 6 month challenge, so I'm focusing a bit more on that this week.

    Good luck everyone! :D

Hi all, still trying to stay on track and for once I am organised. Got up earlier this morning and out my slow cooker on - pork (no fat), mushrooms, onions, peppers, tomatoes and paprika (slight variation to one on the slow cooker page) so as long as it doesn't have a wobbly I'll be going home to that tonight for dinner. (If it does have a wobbly I won't be on here for a while because I'll go home to a crispy dinner and two cats ) I've had it for ages but whenever I've used it I've always been in the house - am I being paranoid?

Recipe for falafels:DPrep Time: 15 minutes

Cook Time: 1 hours, 45 minutes

    Ingredients:

    • 1 cup dried chickpeas or 16 oz. can of chickpeas or garbanzo beans.
    • 1 large onion, chopped
    • 2 cloves of garlic, chopped
    • 3 tablespoons of fresh parsley, chopped
    • 1 teaspoon coriander
    • 1 teaspoon cumin
    • 2 tablespoons flour
    • Salt
    • Pepper
    • Oil for frying
    Preparation:

Place dried chickpeas in a bowl, covering with cold water. Allow to soak overnight. Omit this step if using canned beans.

Drain chickpeas, and place in pan with fresh water, and bring to a boil.

Allow to boil for 5 minutes, then let simmer on low for about an hour.

Drain and allow to cool for 15 minutes.

Combine chickpeas, garlic, onion, coriander, cumin, salt and pepper (to taste) in medium bowl. Add flour.

Mash chickpeas, ensuring to mix ingredients together. You can also combine ingredients in a food processor. You want the result to be a thick paste.

Form the mixture into small balls, about the size of a ping pong ball. Slightly flatten.

Fry in 2 inches of oil at 350 degrees until golden brown (5-7 minutes).

    Serve hot.

Just keep busy all the time, I have spent the last two hours spring cleaning the house and I am knackered:rotfl:all the nets, curtains, windows, blankets, cushion covers all washed and put back and had to spend ages looking for a silver coloured lego helmet that is the youngest absolute favourite and he went to school with a bottom lip as he could not find it :rotfl:oh how I hate little tiny things that he so loves:rolleyes: as for the sewing maching one birthday I absolutely insisted I got a sewing machine, never used it, will not get rid of it just incase it comes in handy but it was wasted on me:rotfl:

Victory - thanks for the recipe but excuse my ignorance - do you serve it with a sauce or just as it is? :o
