Sarahlou - my advice is probably a bit 'biased' as I have 'done it' the Rosemary Conley way - but would also recommend plans like weightwatchers. The problem with Slimfast is that it is not 'real food' and at the end of the day when you have lost the weight you want to lose you will need to start eating 'properly' again. That's when you might end up putting it all back on again.
At least with diet plans like Rosemary Conley, WW etc you eat real food, but you learn which foods to avoid or only eat occasionally. These methods are more money saving in the long run too - it becomes a way of life and is also healthy for the whole family.
With RC you there is a kick start plan that lasts for 2 weeks and limits your calories to 1200, you can expect to lose approx 7lbs in that fortnight. You then increase your calories to 1500 and can expect to lose 1-2lb per week. You can have a glass of wine or a 'treat' each day so that you don't feel completely restricted.
To maximise your diet you should try to limit all foods to those that contain no more than 5% fat and should have breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner and pudding/treat. So, theoretically you don't go hungry. You must also exercise portion control, to keep the calories to the right level.
You can buy one of her magazines which will have the kickstart plan in it and lots of tips, menu ideas etc. You can usually buy old magazines on Ebay as well as her books. There are also local groups if you like that sort of support.
I've never done WW, but know there are some peeps on here that follow it successfully.
Good luck with whatever route you chose, it is doable

Thanks funky monkey! I think i'll finish off the slim fast (i have 10 days worth and I'm not throwing it in the bin). But then I may look at the RC diet......I'd much rather be eating food. I just worry if I eat food I'll get the calories all wrong!
I've also taken on board comments about the snacks - I just presumed low calorie would be good, never thought about the sugar "hgh" !
Will keep posting to keep myself motivated!Avon Representative October 2010: C16: £276 :T C17: £297 :j0 -
Ooh all this talk of tattoos makes me want to get another one (have got 2 on my lower back: one Korean symbol meaning 'brightness and optimism' and just a patterny one). They are a bit addictive aren't they!!
On the weight loss topic, does anybody have any tips on how to get past cravings? I am having a serious desire for flapjack this afternoon and need to get over it before leaving work so I don't end up in Sainsbury's bakery section on my way home!! Surely motivation shouldn't have vanished this quickly?!:o

Ok, ok, I didn't cave! :j
I think just by posting something it made something 'click' inside my head and made me realise that I didn't really want flapjack; I want to lose weight.
Oh, and Missy's signature "3rd year of maintaining size 8, BMI 20" definitely is inspirational!
Sorry for rambling guys...0 -
Tattoos really are addictive according to DH, he had a number of small ones on his back when he was in the Army,as well as his chest and larger ones on his arms.
Last year instead of presents:Birthday,Christmas,Easter,Valentines etc.etc........he had the small ones on his back covered with a full back dragon with spread wings.
Although sceptical at first I have to admit it is an absolute work of art, but probably not to everyones taste.
I myself have a small Mickey Mouse on my left hip. Memories of our wedding in Disney World Orlando with our friends and family!!!!!
Another reason for needing to lose weight.........the mouse has definatley turned into a rather large rat!!!!!!!!:rotfl::rotfl:

Like thelook of tatoos but too chicken to have one myself.
Trying to weigh up whether going to the gym or nipping to A5DA for cereal for tomorrow would be more beneficial to me...think the gym might be the answer as I'm starving and will get tempted by reduced bread products and can always get breakfast in the canteen tomorrow (though that'll mean getting up even earlier!)0 -
Oh and does anyone know how to stop a zip sticking - the one on my trouser flies keeps jamming (in the up position) and it's getting somewhat annoying.0

You could try running a lead pencil up & down said zip if you can get it down to do it IYSWIM.I am a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Mortgage Free Wannabe & Local Money Saving Scotland & Disability Money Matters.
