Ooh, thanks Poddle, that seems a pretty reasonable price :T Also a great idea about the minibuses BMF, which reminds me that I may be able to get use of some if I'm back at a school by then :T Don't worry PepPop, I've been in posh portaloos before and they are thankfully nothing like ordinary ones (and especially nothing like the ones at Glastonbury ).

Granny, how did you keep everyone warm in a marquee in January? This is one of the things that's concerning my parents, along with mud :D

Well, I've had some very nice emails from the landowner - I explained why it was so important to us and he thought it a moving story. The upshot is that he only has a few fields suitable and he asked us to get in touch with him again once we get back :j While it would be great if we could know now, at least if we know we have the field behind Mum and Dad's, we can go ahead and book the marquee/tipis and hopefully come to an arrangement with him. Keep your fingers crossed peeps! My brother has also suggested another possible site which is between my parents and our home; it has the added benefit of electricity and overlooks a lake :D

I've also just signed up to our local LETS so will be able to exchange our skills for services on there :j This will help keep the costs down :money:

It really does feel like it's all starting to come together, and it's so lovely to have people to bounce ideas off. Thank you everyone! :T

Ooh thank goodness - I had a vision of you in a beautiful dress trying to hold your nose and your dress at the same time :rotfl:

The site overlooking the lake sounds lovely - but I'll still keep my fingers crossed the farmer is nice to you.

to Cinny, who is so clever I am now also marrying her in a joint ceremony with OH ;)

    That's me!!
I was 127% certain I posted on this thread. Clearly not!
Are you still going for the Tipi then? - they are stunning! Seems like everything is coming together for you too :D (I'll keep my fingers crossed over the farmer) Sounds like you're going to have a ruddy beautiful wedding!

As for the coaches - You can hire old style red London buses for Weddings. I'd so totally love one of them!

Not long until your OH is back now Bails? I think you said the 12th?

He he, Hi Cinny! Well, technically you have a say in all the wedding arangements from now on, as it's your big day too, so London buses it is ;) It's a good idea actually to look for fun forms of transport - my friend had a sofa on the back of a tractor recently and another who got married in Prague transported all his guests on an old tram; it looked seriously great!

If we have our wedding all in the same place, I came up with a great way to get to the gorgeous country pub just down the road for drinks... our friends/step brother and wife own a mountain bike tandem (and we both love mountain biking :D) I might make this another surprise for OH on the day :j
OH is back THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW! :j:j I can't wait to have a big cuddle, and then go through some of this wedding stuff so I'm not alone in trying to make the best decisions...

Okay, so here's the thing - I've found some necklaces I like for my bridesmaids on the net which will work out about £15 each ( I'm not 100% on postage costs yet and will use OH's cashback card). Although I haven't even picked the material for the dresses yet, or the patterns; is this crazy? I asked my mum who thinks the colour of the pendant will be fine.

The question is, do I wait and hope to find something on my travels - this was my original plan but everything tends to be too bulky or with less than great stones so far... I've researched Mongolian jewellery and it's v gaudy

I guess it's possible bargain vs. something I like which is environmentally friendly (if we ignore the postage for a second), helps others (they're from the Hunger Site) and would be another thing ticked off the list?

In the back of my mind, I'm thinking I could sell these ones on if I find something better (which would then be more work of course)...and I might also sell the chains they come with as I'm not overly keen on them (already emailed to ask if I could buy them without but no joy).

What's a girl to do? Thoughts anyone?

  • Morning Bails. Hmm. It seems sort of obvious - do you buy something you've found and you like and which is good value, or do you hold out for something better which might not come along?

It depends on the site you've found them on I guess, will they still be available when you're back from your travels? If so then I don't see the harm in waiting and looking around... If not, I'd be tempted to get them - would rather have the hassle of selling them on later if you DO find something better, than the kicking-yourself feeling of not having got them then not being able to find anything else...

Hi bails, I would be inclined to buy them and sell them later if you see something better. I agree with Tete, better to have them than miss out and have to make do with something you don't like as much.

Yae, this was the line I was taking too girls :T I'll wait til OH is back so I can use his credit card and then I'll get them. Unfortunately I missed 2cent shipping but needed some back up from my mum/here before I bought them. I have found a code to get a free pressie and get another one automatically so maybe I can make a little money back on them too ;) I hope the girls like them, it's so difficult buying for other people and especially the same thing for 3 very different people...
