    Hi Bails!

I don't have any useful wedding advice I'm afraid! But I can't wait to plan my wedding if OH ever proposes! We've already talked about it though and we are going to abroad somewhere, just us two. So that should keep costs down! :p

    Loving the travel talk!

We did get a couple of things that look naff now like green and gold bedcovers that are completely impractical and don't go with anything in the house! On the first part of our trip I had some really awful clothes like a pink gypsy skirt and purple baggy pants that ran in the wash (cringe) you really need to know what you're doing. It's like finding a needle in a haystack!

I went to Asia and have pink and gold covers that are shoved in a box! And tablemats, coasters, about a billions bags and purses... it's all put away but I don't wanna get rid of any of it! The only things I use are the many scarves I bought. :)

I also had the baggy pants! In black and green, they don't half run in the wash! I love those trousers though, I wear them in the summer still!

    Hi guys

Just spotted a competition on a wedding website where if I recommend you, we could both win a honeymoon (don't worry, it doesn't have to be together or to the same place!). Always worth a go eh? If you're up for it, send me your email address...

The choices are The Caribbean, The Maldives, New York or The Seychelles. Could be worse ;)

Cool, some takers for the comp, fingers crossed girls!

Having spent the last few days pondering the sanity of spending so much on one day and trying to work out where I stand and what I want my budget to be, I am happier with the plan. For now at least ;) This has been helped by promising developments on the job front, although I don't actually have it yet...

I had a long chat with my family yesterday which really helped with giving me a more realistic idea of how much things are likely to cost, both  and :j :D The great news is that Mum is insisting on paying for the costs of the cake, as she didn't ask my brother for any money for the ingredients, so another amount squeezed from the budget :j

I've asked her whether she would like to make the bridesmaids' dresses or prefer I got them from China. I think we're going with her making them still which will be a lovely touch as long as it doesn't stress her out. If it starts to get problematic (2 of my SiL's bridesmaids got pregnant so their dresses had to be changed just before!) then we've agreed to get them made. She's also said it's no problem to make 3 different designs, so the girls can each have a style they like that suits them :T Now, if I can just get hold of them all to actually ask them to be bridesmaids...:rotfl:

Right, today I'm on to invite design. I'm planning on using one of my photos from the trip and some handmade paper from here, so if anyone has any great design ideas or websites they've used, that would be really helpful. Thanks!

Just off to check out a place setting idea I've seen, then researching invites...

    How's everyone else's preparations going?

Woo hoo! Just had an email back from the Parish Council to say they have no objection to us holding our wedding ceremony in our special place :j:j And no mention of money :j The only thing I need to clarify is that it said ' a small ceremony' and we have 120 guests  so just need to check that'll be okay.

Things are starting to come together! :j Now just to work on the man who owns all the land around there...

ETA: I've just emailed the man who owns the surrounding land and I got quite emotional explaining the reasons why the place holds such meaning for us. I really hope he lets us use it, it would completely make my wedding day!

Depends on whether you want to hire or buy - but he's getting one made in his own tartan so arround £750 for the full outfit.

 I had a feeling they might cost a lot more than you'd think! But then when you say it's an investment, I suppose it's not too bad - he'll get more wear out of his klt than you will out of your dress I guess!

Bails, fab news about your special place!! I'm so impressed with you skills at organising from afar! Hopefully tha man will still be ok about it when he knows hoe many guests you have!

Great news about your 'place', Bails.

If you have your party in the tipis in the field at the back of your parents' house you might need to hire some loos -- unless your parents have more than the usual number in their house? My DD had her wedding party in a marquee in her SiL's garden (in january:eek::eek:) and we hired posh portaloos.

The issue of the field being a distance from the wedding venue .... if the field is going to save you money then maybe you could spend a bit on a coach to ferry guests to and from the venue/ceremony place?

Thanks Granny! :T Yes the loos are on the list...any idea how much yours were? And a coach may well be the answer if we do go for Mum and Dad's - £1900 is a LOT of money! OH is worried that my parents will end up doing far too much if it's near their house - he knows them too well...

I've found an invite design I like which is fun and very 'us' I think, so another thing to show OH! I'll need to leave it a while though as he hasn't been able to make eye contact or speak to anyone for 12 days so to suddenly launch into wedding plans will send him over the edge! :rotfl:

Your plans are coming on in leaps and bounds! I hope you get the right answer from the landowner :D

I think posh portaloos are a v g idea - we hired some for 2 days for a festival last month and I think it was less than £100 for a cabin with 3 ladies and 3 gents cubicles.

About the coaches...we've a charity locally, who hire out their mini-buses if they're not needed by the users. Maybe a bit of research would show something similar in your neck of the woods?
