Well, the dealers I have been haggling with all stated they were selling the car at a loss. The woman I eventually agreed the deal with, when asked if she could go any further, mentioned a figure of £600 loss. Not sure how true that was, I took it with a pinch of salt.0

They may well be making a loss on the car, but if it means they make a sales volume target and get a bonus payment they stand to profit from the deal that way.0

Depends how you define a "loss". Many dealers get volume bonus so they can let the cars go at cost or less as they get a big fat bonus cheque for hitting target. I got a car at below cost a few years back - sales manager told me that they were close to hitting a volume bonus so they would let cars go at a loss0

Nor do we. Now tell us the dealer and he'll have quite a few orders
Tried to pm you the details but can't.

We're all amongst friends. I'm sure Martin wont object to you posting the dealer details who offers such cracking deals. It's what this site is all about"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
Yes I agree. Although my deal is done would be very interested to know of the dealer.0

Ahh if my local dealer cant give me a good enough deal, I know where to try now! Thats not far from me either!0 -
Guy just rang me again, still no better deal!
They have been advertising an offer for no VAT on their cars until the end of the year. The car that I want is £15670 on the ford website, so without VAT that would make it £13320 because the VAT on it is £2350.50.
Well the guy just rang and took it all into account my police discount and things like that, and he has quoted me £13816! Thats more expensive than the offer that they told me! I dont know whether I am going to bother, he reckons on the price he has quoted me is the lowest possible. Oh well never mind eh. Time to look at Fiat!0 -
Oh and btw, just rang Allen Ford Nuneaton. I told him the deal what Bristol street offered me, and the salesman at Allen Ford went away to speak with his boss. He rang me back saying they will be able to beat it hands down, and that I wont be dissapointed, but he wants me to go the showroom so they can have a look at my car now. The only time I can get down there is Tuesday now.0
