i tend to agree with this. you just have to have a look back at the deals on older models of the fiesta, this will be the same, the price will come down and spec will go up the more of them that are around.
if your changing your car often like you seem to be doing then i dont think the price your buying it at is the main concern, i would be worried about how much its worth in a years time, and as prices come down for the fiesta then so will the value of yours.
"adrian hi" is good at this kind of stuff and im sure if he appears on here he will tell you its all about the price to change not the overall purchase price that should be concerning a buyer like you....work permit granted!0 -
Well have called the dealers bluff today for a few more £££ off the deal. But, they are now not budging. Spoken to two other dealers with the price, and they cannot get near it really - based on the car price and part-ex deal.
So, still not 100% if I should just go for it. I dont think I am going to do any better, and having looked at the competition, I really do like these cars.0 -
This is most definately a brand new car. I feel I am pretty 'well handled' when it comes to fishing for a deal, as I tend to change mine and my wifes car every 18 months or so. I enjoy the chase!
Heres the full run down....
1.25 Zetec Fiesta. Non-metallic. With Bluetooth as the only extra (will get mats too).
Car price - £10,100
Trade in for mine - £6,450
Outstanding finance - £5450
Amount to pay - £9,100
APR - 7.9% (not great, but thats Fords pricing on 3 year PCP)
Deposit - just the equity from my current car finance
Monthly payment - £178
Ballon payment - dont have it to hand, but around £4
Based on 3 years, 12k miles
My plan will be to trade this in after 18 - 24 months.
So thats it. This will be for a brand new car as I say. I have been very flexible on the colour and very open about what I want. I was offered this deal, and walked away on Saturday in hope they may better it. The four other Ford dealers cannot get anywhere near. I am going to call this dealer tomorrow to try and get them down another couple of hundred quid somewhere in the deal and then its decision time.
I totally agree the Fiestas are overpriced. Having said that for similar equipment levels on other cars, they seem pretty hard to beat. It feels much more like an old model Focus than an old model Fiesta to me.
OK I've done the usual compare with leasing (lease company buying power usually gets the biggest discounts if they are available which results in lower lease payments for the customer often beating buying) and looking at the prices quoted for nearly new cars.
I was expecting to suggest go and lease this car, but perhaps because it's a new model without the usual discounts the lease prices are not that great - £235 for 36 months. Nearly new prices don't seem to be any better than £10,100.
If your keeping the car 24 months at 7.9% APR on £9100 of credit you'll pay about average £190 a month over that term (I'm not talking loan/PCP repayments but "real" cost),
The only thing I would ask is why not keep this car for the duration of it's warranty, 36 months, which gets the average monthly figure down to about £160?
Past that I cannot see anything wrong with this deal "in the current market". New model obviously more desirable than the previous so the higher prices seem to be holding up for now.
The thing is, without any haggling you can get a similar performance, specification and quality of drive from a Mazda 2 1.3 TS2 (86bhp, TS is less powerful) for £10,295 available on 0% APR over 36 months and a 50% deposit. What car target price £9800. I wonder what price you could get if you tried.
That makes the list price of this Fiesta look really high but a decent enough deal at £10,100. If this is the car you like I say grab it quick..... but keep it at least 36 months to get best value for money out of it0 -
Make sure you specify that you want a spare tyre. They don't come as standard.0

Thanks for that Adrian. What you said is my feelings - that it's a decent enough deal in the current Market.
I know the sensible option is the Mazda. The tamura special looked very nice in the showroom and was only a tad more than the ts2. However the dealer was pretty rude and offered a poor part ex on my car. I will phone a few others today and see what they come up with. They also do 3.9% finance with no deposit which again us better than ford.
But I am not always particularly sensible and do still really like the fiesta.
Will see what today brings.0 -
Im going to pop down to my local Bristol Street today to have a nose. I need to go down anyway as I got a problem with one of my keys that came with my Fiesta thats never been used and has decided not to start the engine, so I shall have a look at the Zetec and Titanium.
If they could offer £5500 for my 08 Fiesta Style and give me the titanium for 11k I would shake their hand today. I work for the police and I can get various discounts at some car dealers. Unfortunately Ford isnt one of the authorised discounters we can use, but Sytner are, and they sell Seat, BMW and Mini. I like the look of the Seat Ibiza which the top spec is roughly in the same price range of the Titanium and I know the discounts are very generous to police personnel.0 -

I'll find out the dealer and get back to you.
What area are you in and how far will you travel for the car?
Any luck with that dealer yet? If your mate won't tell you. just have a look at his number plates, it's probably on there.
For £8k for a brand new Fiesta Zetec, I'll travel the length of Britain if necessary.
(Edit: like superdon too)"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
It's a very nice car. If you have the option, take the USB connection, it's brilliant! Sadly cruise control isn't an option on the Zetec otherwise I'd recommend that too.0

Ooh. Just spoken to a Mazda dealer and got a very good offer on a Mazda 2 Tamura. Works out at nearly £20 per month cheaper, on a similar finance deal (better APR and good part-ex on mine). Now thats tempting!
I havent drive one yet, but had a look at one and wasnt very impressed with the interior though. Havent seen a Tamura version though.0
