I spoke to Allen Ford about the supposed 8k Zetec deal, and they laughed at me. Their words were something like "someones telling porkies". I agreed.
Maybe it was Allen Ford to you.
Matt, push it with them then leave it until the end of the month when their figures are due, they will be back onto you.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

well to be fair, I mentioned about a deal that was on here but didnt say the price. The sales guy told me we wouldnt be able to sell a Zetec for any less than 10k!
I have just phoned Fiat to have a look at their prices as I get 30% off their vehicles. Someone is going to ring me back.
Are the diesels really that bad? I thought that was the way forward in todays age no? I am not looking for a super duper powered rocket, just something that can get me from Brum to Devon a few times a year and to work and back in luxury.0 -
Yeh but I wouldnt touch a french car. Your paying the price with ford becuase of the build, and the features that are with the titanium. I want a brand new vehicle btw.
No issues, just pointing out the other cars available for that price.
Before you commit to paying £13,000. I would take a step back and look at what other cards are available for that price, new & 2nd hand.
We were single-focused on a car a few years back, but instead managed to get a 4 month old Clio 182 (were back in 2004 now), priced up at £13,200 2nd hand, down too £10,600.
At the time we were looking at an 51 plate A4, which the clio was a far far exciting car due to the low weight and performance.
Dont get old....buy something sporty...0 -
Well when we got our brand new Fiesta back in 2007, we paid £488 LESS than this nearly new one and this one has 5,000 miles on the clock, and is a year old, and has the smaller engine, and has no sports or technology pack.

Obviously just one example, but just shows if you can get a good deal then brand new isn't always so bad.0 -
Have you considered getting a pre registered car. You can get all sorts of deals on them. For example a very quick look has shown me buyacar.co.uk doing the car you want with the options for £12653.0

Now I know that Renault are not known for build quality but they have recently invested in a huge new factory in Spain and the build quality has shot up.
Next week I am collecting a brand new, but pre-registered Renault Megane coupe with parking sensors and 3d sound system for £12655 on the road.0 -

This is almost certainly an ex hire or lease car
Arnold clark have hundreds of 58 and 09 plate Zetecs all at the same or similar price all with 5-15k on them. Same with Corsa SXI's
I also agree though that the price on the Fiestas qouted are pish. Look at a pre registered or 6 month old car. I bet you do better on the trade in too. Many dealers will suggest to you that second hand is a far better market for them and more profitable hence they are more willing to deal on these than brand new cars which are harder to deal with due to manufacturers etc
On Arnold clark right now you can get Delivery Mileage Fiat Bravo's, Fiat Qublos Hyundai I30, Peageot 207, Vauxhall Corsa's, Grande Punto GP's (middle sport version), VW Polos for under 9k on 09 or 59 plates with balance of warranties, or if you go a bit more upto 10k Seat Ibiza's, Nissan Tiida, Vauxhall Vivaro, Toyota IQ, Cevorlet Epica, Seat Altera, Kia Cee'd (7 years warranty!!), Honda Jazz, Renault Modus, Vauxhall Astra, Meriva, Toyota Yaris.
If your insistent on a Fiesta they also have the lower spec ones for about 8-10k
Remember most of these will have probably been driven at most on a few test drives and between dealers.
Seriously do not buy brand new. I bet they will give you a better trade in deal too.0 -
Right, Allen Ford have just rang to say what ever Bristol Street say, they will beat it by £50 every time. They reckon they refuse to be beaten on price.
Allen Ford is 20 miles away. I think they will have to do a bit more than £50, just for the sheer inconvenience of keep going to the dealership!
I wonder if I should phone Bristol Street again?
Do you guys recommend the 1.4 petrol then? I would imagine I would get that for about £600 cheaper?0 -
My question is. Why would you want to buy a second hand car, even with low miles and remaining warranty, if with haggling you can get brand new for the same money or cheaper?0

Because you rarely can get the exact same car for the money or cheaper. Of course if it happens and you can wait for it to be delivered etc fair enough however my experience is you will always find a pre reg/nearly new with low low mileage is better
I only recently bought a pre reg on a 59 plate. 3k cheaper than the equivalent new with haggling. Also got a better trade in. The car was delivered to me next day at home with the 39 miles to deliver it on the clock and nothing else.0
