I plan on purchasing a breadmaker in the New Year (sooner the better :D) and have spent some time searching for info on the various models - including this site.

It's fair to say that the Panasonics seem to be THE fav, but I've run across this Russell Hobbs model which I thought was a bit different because of the rack for rolls/bagels. Does anyone here have one of these or know of someone who does? I would really be interested to know if they're any good.

And the 86 bread settings . . . is that right? 86? Please have a look and let me know what you think.

BTW - newbie here, Hi everyone!:santa2:
And please excuse if this isn't the correct board. I wasn't sure and there are SO many!
  • We have owned one of these for the past 3 years but have never used the roll rack . The Machine makes good bread particuraly 50 % wholemeal.
We have just replaced the kneading arm and the Bread is starting stick to the Tin as non stick coating is starting to come off

    Hope this helps

wow 86 bread settings. mine is rather old , had it nearly 5 years ( was wedding present) and mine is very basic , bread ( about 6 various types) dough , jam and cakes. and i find it ideal. as it does the job i want simpley without fuss. sometimes more buttons and the harder to use , the less it gets used if u get my drift.

panasonic sd253 is the best appliance i have ever bought use it on a daily basis and it should pay for it self in the long run.
Before you point fingers, make sure your hands are clean !;)
  • I have a panasonic SD253 and it is brilliant. I've never had any problems with it and doesn't have too many buttons etc (I get confused easily!!)

I think it speaks volumes that the Panasonic SD253 has been around a number of years (we've had ours about 4) without any changes seeming to have been made to it. They got it right with this model, it doesn't need changing.

Buy the Panasonic - IT IS THE BEST !
  • I love my Panasonic SD253 - Good Housekeeping favourtie - just wish it did jam though.
  • I have the panasonic also, so easy its great. The only negative thing for me is the loaf size its tall and thin, whereas I have always prefered a cob shape, or a bloomer. I just love little crusts smoothered in butter.
I know you could take it out and cook it in the oven, but thats too much phaff for me, if only they would invent a breadmaker that had interchangable tins I would be in heaven.
    I had a plan..........its here somewhere.
