Thanks all. The politics never affected me until I was promoted, but now I am dealing with a whole new set of highly ambitious and cut throat people :(
Nevermind, I love my job and am just going to focus on doing that well and ignore the other stuff. Hopefully that strategy will work!

No running today. I'm planning a 6 mile run in the morning and I need to conserve contact lenses. I use daily disposables and am down to about 3 pairs. I need to have a check up before they'll let me have more - plus I was going to try and eek them out until I get paid next week.......money,money,money.

Talking of which, **CONFESSION TIME **
I have to confess that I have had a bit of a splurge :o:o:o

It seems soooooooooo long since I had a good look around the shops and yesterday I had to (occupational hazard). I was like a kid in a sweet shop - I could feel my eyes lighting up. Added to the jacket I bought last week :o I have spent a total of £115

Realistically, I'm still going to have to buy clothes for work and at least I'm not buying them every month like I used to...........still, I feel incredibly guilty :o

I've not been in whirlwind mode today, but have still managed to clean the house, make cupcakes (x 24 :D), do loads of laundry and am currently eyeballing a large basket of ironing that WILL be done today!

It's been a good week. I've been doing a lot of mental decluttering and thinking about a 1 year / 5 year and 10 year plan.

We bought this house to rent out and it's still our intention to do that if we can. Ideally, I would like us to move by the end of this year. I know this looks impossible given the snails pace rate of debt repayment, but I have blind faith that it will happen.

Moneywise, little DD starts school in September, so that will free up another £500 per month in childcare fees.
OH and his partner are discussing giving themselves a payrise next month. He did mention £500 a month :j:j:j - but when I mentioned that figure the following week, he told me not to get excited, as they may decide not to (killjoy ).

Also, I'm hoping for a payrise myself, of course that can't be relied upon, but I'm keeping everything crossed.....

In the meantime, there are lots of unfinished jobs here. We have completely renovated this house. Rewired, new kitchen/bathroom, plastered virtually every room etc etc etc - but there is plenty left on the snagging list.

Over the next few months, I'm going to tackle them a room at a time.

We've also been talking about taking the kids away in May and going to Rome for my big birthday......

I'll need to make extra cash to pay for these big plans, so that will be tackled too.

Long breath out...............right off to start dinner and iron, will try to catch up later :)

Mac we're only human. I still use my Next catalogue. I usually only get stuff that's on sale for the boys and me and certainly don't buy anything unnecessary. I also make sure i'm never over half of my credit limit (i would have used every penny before!). It's my 1 and only guilty pleasure and will never appear in my sig until i can afford to shop with cash! ;)

Hi Macgirl - just catching up with your diary - as you know have been a bit out of it recently but mojo on its way back now;)

Sounds like you are a very nice mum who did a lot of fun things over half-term! I spent most of the week falling asleep - but the last couple of days have done a bit more with my vv patient children. Also managed to catch up with some friends - and made me realise my friends are still there and are still lovely - and I can't let work and stuff crowd them out.

Sorry - this is NOT my diary - its yours:o

Thanks Hopeful :) I'm definitely not as frugal as I need to be - but am working on it ;)
How's the family getting on? Hope you're getting some sleep!

Rupe - don't worry Hun - that's what friends are for!
I think there are times when we all get down for one reason or another - sometimes there doesn't seem to be a reason. But running a home, having a family and working AND taking a massive leap back into education (:T:T:T) is no mean feat.
Don't be too hard on yourself and yes, don't lose touch with your friends. Just an hour having a coffee and a laugh can put everything into perspective, so you don't sweat the small stuff. (And it's all small stuff - I've read the book :D)
Take care and call anytime :)
  • Hi Macgirl nothing like some mental decluttering and a plan to put the wind back in the sails!!

Well I was just doing a bit of Cosmic Ordering and reading again how money is the easiest thing to come by (yeah right - but I'm going with it).

I was relaying this info to DH while he smirked, then I knocked a full glass of wine over my laptop :eek::eek:

It is work's computer and would cost £2000+ to replace :o:o:o

Thankfully OH is the MacDaddy, so was on hand to sort it - phew.........back to cosmic matters (and the skiing :D)
