A 2 minute break...... glossing galore, windowsills, windows, doorframes - nothing is safe!

In between sharing the ladder with DH, I am removing the bathroom sealant to make new (DH thinks I'm going overboard) and repainting the bathroom ceiling.
At least everywhere will have had the once-over for a while - though I know it'll need doing again - at least we might have built up the funds to actually pay someone to do it...
The kids are feral begging to "help" so I've let them loose with my make-up bag instead. They now look like kids in those awful US beauty pagents :rotfl:
Back later!0 -
I've stopped for the day. No Shred - but still feel shredded.
I've worked on the bathroom today, painted the ceiling, removed the sealant from the baths and corners of the walls and washed all the tiles - it's fully tiled so took a while and given the window frame it's first coat.
Then I glossed the bannister, so hopefully it will be almost dry by the time the kids get up. I have scrubbed the walls going down the stairs, but they will still need a touch up with paint where we removed stair gates and never go round it.
It's a bit sad that we are making the house all lovely just as we move out! Never mind, I'm sure it'll be worth it.
Just having a chilled bottle of Peroni to celebrate :beer:0 -
So, seems like you have had a relaxing day. Perhaps tomorrow you can put a bit of effort in and actually achieve something

I have every right - I worked really hard at pretending I was listening to what Paul McKenna was saying to me at about 3 this afternoon. Isn't hypnosis a wonderful way of legitimately having a nap mid afternoon :rotfl:Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. Wish I could wake up from an afternoon nap and the house be finished, clean and packed!
Anyway, back to reality.....
Little DD was up in the night being sick and had the runs. She seems fine this morning, but loves milking it so keep saying she's poorly  until I mention going swimming, then she makes an instant recovery!
So, up at 6am,
Gave the living room windowsill another coat
Pinned some curtains in the dining room, ready for hemming
Second coat of bathroom window frame
Put some washing in and folded a load from the dryer
Sorted my ironing basket
Little DD and I have just had some toast, so once the other 2 are up, I'll give the girl's window and the 2 in our room a base coat.
We've promised the girls we'll take them swimming this morning, as they were pretty much left to their own devices yesterday
£2 spent on a paper - other than swimming, that'll be it. Will try and run this evening, otherwise it will have to wait - too much other stuff to do.....
Have a good day all

Blimey!!
I have to say, that I am starting to think more about the "little" jobs that need doing to this place before I think about moving - it will all help the value and saleability of it if things like the paintwork are done - my bannister is shocking, for example, and one or two of the ceilings definitely can only be described as "off white" at best
And of course, when you start looking at the paintwork more closely, the last few years worth of fingerprints become rather more noticeable all of a sudden than previously acknowledged!
Plus the odd jobs that have never been finished - that bit of trim around one kitchen corner cupboard, the coving that wasn't repaired when the built in wardrobe was put in my bedroom etc etc etc.
So, I am going to make a list of all the jobs that need doing, and really crack on with getting them done - some have greater priority than others, and some are, essentially, small jobs that won't take long, so I will give it some serious thought about what to do and when, and what will cost and what can be done for free......so that I am more ready to get the house valued and sold when the time is right.
I have noticed that there are a few houses that are approaching the top end of my price budget coming onto the market - this has lead me to think that perhaps in a year when my debt is gone, I can go to the top end of my budget and perhaps look to move next summer.
Which means that, in reality, there is not much time, given the hecticness that is my life, and the budgets that I would be restricted to, to get my act together.

Yep, I hear you. We have totally renovated this house.
DH has re-wired the whole house
Fitted a new kitchen and bathroom
Sanded the floorboards in most rooms and fitted oak floors in others.
We have had every room except our bedroom replastered and redecorated - twice in most cases as we've been here 9 years.
Once we got the place 90% finished we left it. We were working every evening and weekends for years, then kids came along and the remaining 10% has never been finished - until now!
Today DH has fitted beading to the bedroom floor and plastered over some wires, adding skirting and is now shredding client documents in the attic,
I have given the kids window a base coat, painted over the patched plaster and ceiling ready to be repainted in the correct colour, mixed 2 pots of paint to repaint the hall. It's dark red and I only had half a pot of the right colour. I remembered that I had bought a similar shade half price so I've mixed them together and they look perfect :money:
TBH though, it's only because we are renting we are making sure all paintwork is up to scratch - if we were selling - we might think again.
Fresh coffee and flowers would probably suffice
Back to the grind!
ps we took the kids swimming this morning so I don't feel too guilty

You make me feel dizzy you are so busy.
I daren't start on the list of things that need doing in this house, but if i mention that I was woken at 5 this morning by a dripping sound in my bedroom you may get the picture.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

Just eaten dinner of lifetime supply of Quorn sausages, mash and veg - with a dash of HP to liven it up

Hall is almost done. I started the cutting in with a small brush, then just carried on. A roller is quicker but creates far more mess, so brush it is. I am flagging now, but am not going to stop until it's done.
The windows have not been as quick as I'd hoped. We had stripped them back to the wood and now the boxes have got white uPVC, then had to be glossed = a few coats.
I can only really do that on a weekend as it takes so long to dry. So I am using emulsion for the basecoat.
The girl's room has only had one coat, so that won't get touched again until the weekend - unless I can get Tuesday off for the school sports day and I'll get it a coat before we go.
Our windows have not been touched yet, but I'm determined to give them at least one coat today. I need to put things back in the hall and striaghten downstairs as the IFA will be here as soon as I get in from work
Probably won't go to bed!!!!0
