Sure was. Let's just hope the mortgage company don't do a u-turn on the offer in principle :o

I'll have the fear now until that is sorted....

Ran only a few miles this morning, I didn't have the mental energy to do the 6+ I had planned.

Will do Shred this evening to make amends. So, today is the usual rigmarole of taxiing to ballet and swimming, then friend's DD round for lunch. After that, I will be decluttering in and among the usual domestic stuff.

I forgot to ring the Natwest about the mortgage yesterday, but want enquire about keeping my current deal and getting consent to let, then seeing if they will lend us the extra for the new house deposit. Initially they would only lend a certain amount which fell short, but the IFA wondered if they'd play ball if they knew another provider was willing to instead.
He suggested we stay with them and instead port our existing deal as a portion of the mortgage for the new property.

I would prefer to stick with them for this house and shift the new mortgage to a new lender, as our outstanding mortgage with NW is fixed @ 4.69% for the next 4.5 years, then extra borrowing for the new house would be at 6.89%, so I'd really like to avoid that. There is a deal at Britannia I've seen, which would be cheaper and is still a 5 year fix, which we want - so I want to do my homework before the IFA comes on Monday.

I started discussing it with DH last night and his eyes glazed over after about 5 seconds

Anyway £13.41 left to spend this week. I had a splurge on a newspaper and fresh crossiants after my run = £4.44, but other than paint, that should be it for spends today.

I did 4 miles in just under 37 mins - very happy with that :j Was a tad blustery, but glad that I went out there and made the effort. Will shred later today.

Re the mortgages, I find it really crap that with base rates at 0.5% we have to pay more for our mortages now than a few years ago. For example, when base rates were at about 5 or 6 % when we bought this, 7 years ago, we got a 10 year fixed rate at 4.95%.....but if I wanted to move now and start afresh, I would be paying far more than that, as you will have to.

I just wonder who does the maths in these places and how they work things out!

Hopefully you will get the ideal, but if not, you will be able to work with the alternatives and will be in your dream house while you ebay to become a MFW!

    Have a good weekend x

Oooh blimey MFW is a loooong way off - I reckon I'll be about 90 before that happens! So best keep running and shredding. I'll settle for DFW, but that will be slow and steady unless I manage to bag a bonus in April - which does look hopeful at the mo.

There are decent deals out there, but our problem is that our LTV on the new house will be 90%. A few more are coming onto the market, but the IFA reckons sticking with the Natwest is as good as any. We'll just have to bite the bullet.

We have decent equity in this house and feel we have a good deal on the new house. When I spoke to the EA yesterday they were saying that even if the market drops again, the new house will still hold it's value. She said they could have got another £100k for it 3 years ago, so we have got it at a good price (we know :D). They said they were even surprised when the vendors accepted it.
Anyway, I don't want to jinx it by assuming it's ours just yet. I am positive but know there is still a long road before I get my hands on the keys :o

Macgirl I see that you are mortgage juggling too. Just a thought you say you have good equity in present house and only 10% in new house so struggling to get good deals would it be worth (subject to penalties of course) remortgaging present house for more and thereby reducing mortgage needed for new house ie equalling out the equity in the two properties. I am sure you have thought of this but just in case.

Have you been back for your "measuring up visit"

Hypno - forgot to say fantastic time on your 4 miles this morning :T Speedwork seem to give overall fitness and performance a boost too, so I'm sure you will keep going from strength to strength :j

Thanks DT. Hope you and the family are doing ok x
Yes we are releasing equity from this house, which will cover the 10% and allow us to comfortably let it.

Haven't been back yet. DH doesn't want to - he says he knows he wants to buy it  But I just want to be in it again - you know how it is. I might see if I can call round on Friday with the girls - but even they are pretty nonchalant! I'm the only one who is beside myself with excitement. It's been a long time coming so I am going to revel in it - just for today ;)

Well DD's friend has cancelled ballet and swimming, so DD has begged to have a day off too. This suits me TBH, as all the window frames need painting, so I'd rather get on with that. Nipped to Homebase where there is 10% off everything today - including sale items. :money:

so I bought the gloss, a new brush and some low tack masking tape. Then DD saw a Hannah Montana lamp in the sale and a Disney Princess lamp for little DD. I ummed and ahhed then thought "Well, they will need a lamp each for their bedrooms - so better to buy now with £15 off" WRONG

DH was not pleased when I got home as he said we'll have loads of unseen costs and lamps are a very low priority :o:o:o Feel like a silly girl. Said I'd take them back and gave him my logic, but he quite rightly said they'd have to live without them for now, but not to take them back - just stop spending.

Arrgghhh!!! So cross with my self. Right will finish coffee, then 15 mins Flylady, then painting. Have a good day all x

Consider yourself well and truly told off then :naughty:

I wouldn't worry about OH not wanting to go and look at the house again - but I would def say go and look yourself. You will get a real feel for it now!

    Happy painting!
