great news on the offer...they must've panicked when they heard the news about property going down.

Thanks both :) Trying to keep my feet on the ground until we've spoken to the IFA.

There is lots to be done before we move, after the windows are fitted I will need to paint the frames left from the box sashes. Plus there is an ocean of decluttering still to do. Hopefully that will throw up things to sell too.

Just finished sorting the rooms for tomorrow, so no Shred tonight. I'm leaving slightly later in the morning, so will go for a run instead.

    Good Morning *yawn*

Unsurprisingly, been awake since 3.30am. Churning over work, house, debt, house, debt, DIY jobs to complete, debt, money, ending up in prison when can't pay mortgage......

So in the end decided to get up (at 4.30am) and have been number crunching since then. It will be tight, there's no doubt about that, but it is doable. It would be better to wait a year or more to move, but we are bursting at the seams here and who knows even if prices are cheaper, interest rates may not be. I will feel better on Monday when we've seen the IFa and I have to lay bare my finances and spending habits (I would rather lay bare in the middle of the town square TBH - but face my fear I must! :o)

It's a drizzy, misty morning here, so perfect for a run to clear my head and put the World to rights. Off I go

Hope anyone reading has a good day :)

Enjoy your run, and hope that the early early start doesn't catch up with you in the course of the day x

Well the early start DID catch up with me. By lunchtime all I wanted to do was put my head on my desk and sleep.
I picked up and after a 3pm chocolate run - all was well! :D

Came home to the new windows, which I like so much more than I thought I would, they've done a great job - goodbye draughty sash - hello clean bright white upvc!
They asked if we wanted to keep the sashes or they'd take them - so we've kept them with a view to flogging on Ebay. Failing that, there is a salvage place round the corner, I'll see if I can get a few £££ there.

Been wobbling about the house today, but after a final totting up, I feel confident. I have raked over every scenario today and spoke to DH numerous times.
He is usually the cautious one and I am more gung-ho, but the tables have turned on this one. He thinks we should just go for it.

I haven't called back the agent and feel bad making the vendors wait, but I just had to be sure. It's a very big undertaking and I want us to go into it with eyes wide open.

Right off to clean up, bath kids then SHRED!!! :j

On the clothes front, are they work clothes or 'normal clothes', even when we were very tight on budget we counted on buying work clothes in the sales as a cost of work ( bought twice a year in the sales), unfortunatly it's not tax deductble here in the UK. But we realised that a work clothes budget allowance was essential to keep the work income up if you're in a job where it's important to look good. By the sound of your NY trips and Berlin, maybe it's the same situation.

Maybe it's worth budgeting for work clothes budgeting in the sales each year, when we were both working, we had to do this. admittedly the other clothes budget was down to nearly zero at times!

OK you need treat clothes too occasionally too :)

Ooops, I missed this last night Se.
No I don't have work clothes as such, as I work in the fashion industry so I always need to look "current". How shallow does that sound? :o It's not a demand as such, just the kind of job I have and it's also my passion, so is not a chore.

I do buy in sales and never buy designer, but clothes are my weakness. As you say, everyone needs a treat and TBH I think I'm probably a bit hard on myself on here sometimes.

Much as I admire uber-frugal peeps - I know that will never be me. But I HAVE massively changed and if the debt takes longer to repay - then so be it. I still have to live a little :)

OOh what lovely news Mac Just trying to catch up on a few diaries at a time so have only just seen this well done playing it cool worked after all.

Well done with the running too. I am a bit concerned about elantan doing shred as I have only done 30 mins on the wii fit and that was about 2 weeks ago this whw thing is looking a bit daunting and everyone seems to be getting their act together on the fitness front.

Hi DT, nice to see you - hope you're doing ok x

No shred this evening - but I did run today, so don't feel too bad.

The new windows have left a trail of black soot over every available surface. The stairs carpet is black, as is the girl's bedroom (previously immaculate) carpet :(
It's a Victorian house, so there is plenty of soot and the like lurking, but we didn't realise it would be EVERYWHERE.... so we've been cleaning non-stop!

A carpet cleaner will be needed me thinks

So, another big job done, but more to do. I'll be getting busy with a paint brush this weekend, plus I've borrowed some heavy duty loppers to cut down a tree that's out of control in the back garden.

Right, off to Ebay and Amazon thanks to a kick up the bum from Pania, so best get to it! :D

Hurrah for nice new windows, but bah to lots of cleaning up! Thankfully, my windows didn't create any mess so it was very very easy.

good luck with the ebaying :D
