Last year I started from scratch when I was doing my marathon training - ok, I had done a couple of marathons before so I knew I could do it, but they were almost 20 years previously, with nothing done in the meantime.

7 weeks after starting from nothing, (and I mean I couldn't get to the end of the road without stopping) I did a half marathon - and I certainly hadn't done more than 6 or 7 miles very slowly the week before.

And I remember my very first half marathon, way back in 1991 - the furthest I had done for that was 7 miles too, and I still managed to get round!

You will surprise yourself - you have a lot of miles under your belt, so your level of fitness is far better than mine ever was!

Yes, but you are lighter - I am at least a stone overweight. Losing even a few lbs over the last few weeks/months has made a difference and I can run 6 miles comfortably.

I guess I am just daunted by the enormity of the race itself and the potential heat. I've just been looking at some training plans on Runner's World and am surprised at how little they expect you to train. 3 x 4m runs, followed by 1 longer run - seems achievable!

It's something I've wanted to do for such a long time, so I'm determined to enjoy it!

I might be lighter now, but I was a stone heavier when I did the marathon......even after all that training, so you can imagine my weight when I started!

You will do it, and you will enjoy it, and I reckon that you will get a pretty good time too - certainly quicker than I will get at the end of August!

Right, am off to bed now, ready to get up and do the Shred in the morning before work.

    Sweet dreams x

Sweet dreams to you too. I'm going to watch Mary Queen of shops on iPlayer, then get my kit ready for another trot in the morning x

No run this morning as I had an early start. I'm going to go when DH gets in - do some hot weather training. Hate going out when there's more chance of being recognised :o

Little DD had her visit to school today so I had the afternoon off. She clung to my leg for the first few minutes, but soon warmed up! Wrote a cheque for £75 for school uniform and other bits

Bought a sandwich and breakfast at work = £2.50, plus 87p on sweets for the girls after school. I still have £5 left, from my personal envelope until Friday.
It has been an eye-opener, as I would usually nip to the supermarket with my debit card and buy "1 thing" but spend £30, so if I can keep it up I will save a fortune :T

Right off to prepare tea for the girl's, then get into my running gear. Hope you have had a good day :)

They are thanks Taxi. I'm stopping and thinking before I buy - I should have done it years ago but better late than never.

Went for my run wearing SHORTS!!! Arrghhh. It was so hot and the thoughts of even 3/4 running tights was too much, so I got out the white wobblers (and I mean Daz blue-white) and off I went :o
It was so humid, but I quite enjoyed it and of course now I'm back I'm so glad I did it! :j

Both sets of money are in the joint account today. DH will transfer the holiday money next week, so we should be back on track. We will have to be very cautious though, as today I've written a cheque for the holiday club for DD1 = £166.
They are going to my parent's a couple of days a week in the school hols and DD2 is reducing her nursery days to 2 a week. We don't get Pre-school funding for August, so by reducing the days we shouldn't be hit too hard with the price hike.

Fell asleep watching Mary last night, so will try and watch it again now and catch up with everyone later.
