Thanks all. Everything's ok, the whole house just smells like it's been barbecued!
Scary to think how silent it was, then I stepped out of the living room into thick smoke. I'm more alarmed that the brand new smokes alarms didn't go off, as the smoke was upstairs too......
Anyway, all's well TG. Managed to hoover 2 sets of stairs and sort more paperwork, so quite a productive Bank Hol.0 -
Good evening, hope a good day was had by all?!
I did have a good day surprisingly. Was called into the Chairman's office this morning to be congratulated on my work :j Am totally delighted!!! It's been a very tough year, so just to be thanked verbally was fab, but he did promise financial reward later in the year too!!! :j:j:j:j:j
Won't count my chickens, but it's long overdue, so maybe it will happen
An NSD today and even got £13 back from something I returned that is no longer needed. Feeling strangely positive and optimistic - in a kind of "anything is possible" kind of way.....
Will grasp it while it lasts!0 -
Absolutely - Anything is possible!
I am glad you had such a fab day :TSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Lovely when that happens. Money's nice but it feels great when someone takes the time to recognise what you've done.
Well done and sucks to the steamer. Have you found out why the detectors didn't work...that's the most worrying bit.:A Let us be grateful to people who make us happy: they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom. Marcel Proust :A0 -
Glad you had such a good day and it is so true that all it takes is a few little words of thanks to make you feel valued. Hope it is a good start to a good week.1st debt - Next [STRIKE]£583.32[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£408.71 [/STRIKE] £0 :j

Indeed. If only more bosses recognised that a simple "thanks" or "well done" to show you are appreciated, actually improves morale and increases productivity..... plus it's FREE, so why not make someone's day? In my experience it's only the people who are secure in themselves that can pass it on (let's hope they can pass on the $$$ too
)
No still don't know why the alarms didn't work KJ, DH tested them and they did beep - so a bit bizarre. There was only smoke, not flames - but lots of it and it travelled upstairs and past the 2 alarms. Need to investigate.
Just got a letter through today confirming we have paid off our sofas. I thought the last payment was in July - so a very pleasant surprise.0 -
Home early today, to pick up DD1 from ballroom dancing - which was nice!
I've been very good foodwise and have added everything into my NC diary. As I have a long evening, I'm going to paint the new architrave in the bathroom and perhaps do a bit of touching up elsewhere while I'm at it. We already have the paint, so no spends there, though I did spend 60p on tea and toast this morning - but I won't lose sleep over that.
Other than that, nothing to report. Was going to list on Ebay this evening, but will save them for the weekend as it's free listing.
Off to do scratches and start diet dinner0 -
Hi Mac thats the good thing about summer evenings makes you want to do more and not have to "Wait for the weekend" well done on diet .xx0
-
Hi BTD, I don't normally get in until 6pm and as I usually leave at 6.30am, I'm so tried when I get in and sort the children out, I only have energy to hit the laptop.
But yes, Summer evenings make all the difference. I'm going to try and stay off here and get more done in the evenings - easier said than done.....
Hope you're ok x0
