Thanks Rupe, Hypno and IMD :A
I checked out hotels today - the cheapest family room was £170  We could drive there and back on the day, but would probably leave the kids with my parents.
There is an accommodation service, but you have to pay a £30 deposit. It seems all the rooms go via them anyway....................will have to look into it.
Hypno there are still places left via charities if you feel you could aim for that. September is a way off - loads of time to get the endorphin boosting training under your belt
Nothing to report today. No money spent, no money in and only 10ps on scratchies. I didn't get round to Ebaying anything, so do need to crack on this week.
Little DD seems to have developed an issue eating at nursery, she's refused everything and eaten nothing all day. Last week she didn't want to eat because a boy said he hated her.
Usual kids banter I thought, don't make a big deal of it because she didn't.
She said she doesn't like their food - though she's been eating it for years........so a bit of child psychology is called for tonight. Never a dull moment!0 -
Hi Mac good for you for doing the run! xx0

Thanks BTD - think I might live to regret it though0

Hi MacGirl - Long time no see:wave::wave:
I wouldn't recommend driving to the Great North Run - when I did it in September DH dropped me off at the starting point an hour before the start - I waited for that hour - then another 25 mins before I got to the start line.... and then 2hrs 25 to run the race ..... and DH still had not managed to get to the finish point by road - It literally was quicker to run!
He never got to see any of the race, I was gutted that he didn't see me cross the line and then we had to wait 4 and a half hours:eek: before we could even get out of the car park (that was at South Shields - there is plenty of parking, but complete gridlock afterwards)
If you can stay in Newcastle the night before, I would strongly recommend it!Emergency Savings Fund - £11002015 Mortgage overpayments = £0 -
I wouldn't go for a charity place this time - I had one for London last year and wouldn't want to have to approach the same people again. Plus, I may well want to run London again next year, so if I need a charity place then, it will be easier to raise money for the full one, rather than the half.
When I did the GNR a hundred years ago, we stayed at Scotch corner - far enough away not to be booked up so early, but still near enough to be useful.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Agree about the charity place Hypno, it's a lot of pressure especially when you have to ask the same people. Sure my friends are completely sick of me by now, they ask me on an annual basis when I will be sending the fundraising email out
I stayed in Whitley Bay when I did GNR - in a rather terrible, horrendous, awful B&B, with shared bathrooms in which a man offered to shower me and my friend. Our room was opposite !!!!!!! Joes" and we had to sleep on towels the sheets looked so undesirable.........so I wouldn't recommend that then........1st debt - Next [STRIKE]£583.32[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£408.71 [/STRIKE] £0 :j

Hi MissO :hello: long time indeed! How the devil are you?!
Yes thanks, I agree with you all, we have to stay over. I'll have to book through the travel company, which seems abit carp, but they look to have the monopoly on accommodation.
The other place I found was in Richmond, N. Yorks, which TBH is not a million miles away from me anyway. Will check out some of the forums, but I think I need to book a room sooner rather than later......
Just done an hour of Davina and feel Grrrreat! :j Out tomorrow with a friend, then running on Wednesday.0 -
When I was supposed to be doing it last year I managed to book I think it was the Caledonian Hotel in Jesmond or the Swallow Imperial I think from memory - however it was before glaring LBM so not sure how much it cost!1st debt - Next [STRIKE]£583.32[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£408.71 [/STRIKE] £0 :j

I checked out hotel prices today. Most are already booked up but the agency offered me a room in a 3 star in Darlington for £249 - for ONE night! Don't think so....
I've found a Premier Inn about 40 miles south for £70 (for a family room), so that's current favourite. Or we might drive there and back on the day and leave the kids with my parents......
Hope everyone's a nice day - I've had quite a laugh at work and am off out for tea - Whoohoo!0
